The <strong>Biz <\/strong>will continue keeping it quick for the next month, particularly since we\u2019ll have a hearty surge of new and super-cool material to post for you as all of the above transpires. \u201cIt\u2019s <em>madness<\/em>,\u201d we say, but please enjoy the fruits of our labor!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>Hit It:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: left;\">\n<li><strong>Robin Christian<\/strong> of <strong>Champaign<\/strong>\u2019s <strong>Dreamscape Cinema<\/strong> confirmed for <strong>CUBlog <\/strong>that yet another of their productions has landed domestic distribution! <strong>ACT YOUR AGE<\/strong>, the drama-comedy about a desperate young actor who disguises himself as an elderly man and moves into a retirement home to study the inhabitants for an upcoming audition, will be released later this year by independent film label <strong>Vanguard Cinema<\/strong>. Release date and product specs are forthcoming;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Julie Morgan<\/strong> of the <strong>Illinois Film Office<\/strong> also contacted <strong>CUBlog<\/strong>, letting us know that the IFO and the state\u2019s <strong>Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity<\/strong> will once again sponsor the \u201c<strong>Shortcuts<\/strong>\u201d filmmaking contest, open to all <strong>Illinois<\/strong> residents 18 years of age and older. Entries should creatively showcase Illinois locations and talent; submissions should be sent on DVD and postmarked no later than <strong>Monday, August 1<\/strong>. You can write <strong>julie.morgan [at] Illinois [dot] gov<\/strong> or <a title=\"Illinois Film Office :: Main Page\" href=\"http:\/\/www.illinoisfilm.biz\/\" target=\"_blank\">visit their Web site for full details<\/a>;<\/li>\n<li>On the cinema studies front, <strong>Robin Murray<\/strong> of <strong>Eastern Illinois University<\/strong> sent <strong>CUBlog <\/strong>a Call for Papers that would be presented as part of this fall\u2019s <strong>Embarras Valley Film Festival<\/strong> in <strong>Charleston<\/strong>. This year\u2019s theme is \u201cFilms For and About Children and Young Adults;\u201d 150-word abstracts should be submitted by <strong>Saturday, October 1<\/strong>, to either <strong>rlmurray [at] eiu [dot] edu<\/strong> or: <strong>Dr. Robin L. Murray, English Department, Eastern Illinois University, Charleston, IL 61920<\/strong>. The symposium will take place <strong>Friday, November 11<\/strong>;<\/li>\n<li>We mentioned <strong>A. Lawrence Dreyfuss<\/strong>\u2019 short film <strong>HAD HE FIDELITY<\/strong> last week but forgot to mention he\u2019s raising a $3,000 budget for it via <strong>Kickstarter<\/strong>. <a title=\"HAD HE FIDELITY @ Kickstarter.com\" href=\"http:\/\/www.kickstarter.com\/projects\/1995594842\/had-he-fidelity\" target=\"_blank\">Check here for a teaser video and sales pitch about the project<\/a>, which Dreyfuss is positioning as \u201cthe first ever senior thesis film to come out of the <strong>University of Illinois<\/strong>,\u201d a claim that is shaky if taking <em>all <\/em>campus departments into account but may be true in that \u201caccomplished at a university without a film school\u201d sense.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Of course, we&#8217;ll have even more to report next week!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><!--more--><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 3em; text-align: left;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>MEDIA LINKS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">We have little problem restoring this section to the <strong>Biz <\/strong>since it\u2019s all about reporting vicariously through other people\u2019s words.
