(Is that <\/em>so wrong?) They owe such an effort to everyone involved in the process of making their work, whether for business or other reasons. We shout out to Robin Christian<\/strong> for providing us a peek into his industry travels.<\/p>\n

\u201cArticle du C-U: Ebertfest X, pt.4<\/span>,\u201d 2\/12\/09<\/a>: Anthony Zoubek<\/strong>\u2019s analysis of the Ebertfest phenomena, relative to its 10th occurence in 2008, is exactly the kind of detailed but accessible writing we\u2019d love to showcase on CUBlog <\/strong>a lot more often. We shout out to Zoubek for filing material at a level above and beyond what we deserve; the linked installment on Paul Schrader<\/strong>\u2019s MISHIMA <\/strong>is outstanding.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen Roger met Nina (& Sita, too)<\/span>,\u201d 1\/28\/09<\/a>: A prime example of the famous doing good for the sake of art, Roger Ebert<\/strong>\u2019s attentiveness to Urbana native Nina Paley<\/strong>\u2019s SITA SINGS THE BLUES<\/strong> gave this virtual one-woman animated tour de force<\/em> a big boost towards recognition and legitimate DVD release. If our upturned thumbs could talk, they\u2019d be shouting out to both Paley and Ebert (& SITA<\/strong>, too).<\/p>\n

\u201cCritique du C-U: SHOT reloaded<\/span>,\u201d 10\/6\/06<\/a>: We\u2019ll say it \u2013 the 1973 UIUC <\/strong>student-made, feature length SHOT <\/strong>is a quintessential bad movie. Yet, we\u2019re still entertained by it in that fuzzy 2 a.m., \u201cDid we really <\/em>just watch this?\u201d sort of way. We shout out to \u201cEbertfest\u201d director Nate Kohn<\/strong> and collaborator Mitch Brown<\/strong> for setting aside graduate studies to cut loose on and off campus with their camera.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was 10 years ago this week\u2026<\/span>,\u201d 3\/7\/09<\/a>: We wrap up our suggested CUBlog <\/strong>reading with this item, less to blow our own horn than as a reminder that you \u2013 yes, you <\/em>\u2013 will the biggest fan and hardest-working contributor on your own projects.
