Currently, we\u2019re cleaning up our desktops at the <strong>Secret MICRO-FILM Headquarters<\/strong> which includes reorganization of electronic files pertaining to the movies of <strong>Champaign, Urbana<\/strong>, and the cities beyond. Filtering through these assets, we couldn\u2019t help but set a few aside to share with our dearest readers!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" title=\"FACES IN THE MIRROR (Artwork: Brian Patrick?)\" src=\"http:\/\/www.micro-film-magazine.com\/Images\/CUBlog Art\/cu_archives_facesart.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"450\" height=\"324\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">For the next three \u201c<strong>Images of the Week<\/strong>\u201d postings, we\u2019ll present images that have never appeared before on <strong>CUBlog <\/strong>or in <strong>C-U Confidential<\/strong>, starting with this \u201call student\u201d grouping! We begin with promotional artwork for the unfinished slasher flick <strong>FACES IN THE MIRROR<\/strong>, directed by <strong>Chicago <\/strong>videographer <strong>Brian Patrick <\/strong>while a senior at <strong>University High School<\/strong> in Urbana. Streaming clips tucked away on <a title=\"Brian Patrick :: Official Site\" href=\"http:\/\/brianpatrick.info\/\" target=\"_blank\">Patrick\u2019s portfolio Web site<\/a> under the \u201cWatch\u201d tab imply he\u2019s worked on it since the Uni High premiere in 2006. Apart from being a product of ambitious high school students, <strong>FACES <\/strong>gained notoriety when rumors flew that local businessmen invested $30,000 worth of money, equipment, and software into the project.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin : 3em;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" title=\"Travis Huls, Ashley O'Neil, and Paul Brooks star in LATE AFTERNOON OF THE LIVING DEAD. (Photo: Ten Wings Films)\" src=\"http:\/\/www.micro-film-magazine.com\/Images\/CUBlog Art\/cu_archives_lateWESN.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"450\" height=\"311\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Above is a screen grab lifted from the defunct Web site for <strong>LATE AFTERNOON OF THE LIVING DEAD<\/strong>, a low-budget comedy action feature made by <strong>Illinois State University<\/strong> graduates <strong>Jason Huls<\/strong> and <strong>Paul Brooks<\/strong> in <strong>Bloomington-Normal<\/strong> and <strong>Decatur <\/strong>a few years ago. We snagged this shot for sentimental reasons; the basement studio in which actors <strong>Travis Huls, Ashley O\u2019Neil<\/strong>, and Brooks hole up during <strong>AFTERNOON <\/strong>is <strong>WESN 88.1 FM<\/strong>, the low-power radio station of <strong>Illinois Wesleyan University<\/strong> where your humble alumnus editor co-hosted \u201c<strong>The RadioActive Doghouse<\/strong>\u201d show in the early Nineties. Brooks and Huls have reinvigorated their label <a title=\"Ten Wing Films :: Official Site\" href=\"http:\/\/tenwingfilms.com\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Ten Wing Films<\/strong><\/a> in Chicago with new projects including an almost-completed short called <strong>THE DRONE<\/strong> and the more elaborate <strong>CITIZEN IN THE TEMPLE<\/strong>, which <a title=\"Jason Huls :: Production Weblog\" href=\"http:\/\/www.jasonhuls.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Huls will submit as his thesis film<\/a> in <strong>DePaul University<\/strong>\u2019s Digital Cinema program.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin : 3em;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><!--more--><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" title=\"Kevin Zaideman, Daniel Papas, and Brittney Refakes pal around on the set of ONE FINE DAY! (Photo: Premonition Pictures)\" src=\"http:\/\/www.micro-film-magazine.com\/Images\/CUBlog Art\/cu_archives_ofdIndy.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"450\" height=\"329\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Beyond the overt &#8220;Indiana Jones&#8221; costume reference, <a title=\"CUZine 3 returns, BPM 8 up next :: C-U Blogfidential\" href=\"https:\/\/www.micro-film-magazine.com\/cublog\/?p=771\" target=\"_blank\">a gag <strong>CUBlog <\/strong>is hardly immune to<\/a>, we simply like this candid set photo from <a title=\"ONE FINE DAY! :: Premonition Pictures\" href=\"http:\/\/ofd.premonitionpictures.com\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Premonition Pictures\u2019 ONE FINE DAY!<\/strong><\/a>, which <a title=\"DVD revels in ONE FINE DAY! :: C-U Blogfidential\" href=\"https:\/\/www.micro-film-magazine.com\/cublog\/?p=311\" target=\"_blank\">we\u2019ve covered previously<\/a>. In the first season\u2019s Episode 3, \u201c<strong>Mental Ability<\/strong>,\u201d college friends and fellow resident assistants Steven (<strong>Kevin Zaideman<\/strong>) and Mitch (<strong>Daniel Papas<\/strong>) drag along Alexis (<strong>Brittney Refakes<\/strong>) on a campus scavenger hunt during <strong>Halloween<\/strong>. Since creators <strong>Marc Morin, Jr.<\/strong>, and <strong>Derek Klein<\/strong> filmed the complete series at their <em>alma mater<\/em>, the <strong>University of Illinois<\/strong>, <strong>OFD!<\/strong> marathons frequently pop up on student lab station <strong>UI-7<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin : 3em;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" title=\"Bilal Dardai, Christopher Lavery, and Danielle Cloutier strike a pose while making a video for Freaky Film Festival. This scheme is not without precedence here at <strong>MFHQ<\/strong>, for way back in 1999 we taped more than an hour of \u201cfake video\u201d spoofing <strong>THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT<\/strong> from which to grab images for the cover of that year\u2019s <strong>Freaky Film Festival<\/strong> program. One screen capture never before seen is this smiley group shot of then-UI students <a title=\"Bilal Dardai @ LiveJournal.com\" href=\"http:\/\/bdar.livejournal.com\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Bilal Dardai<\/strong> of Chicago<\/a>, <strong>Christopher Lavery<\/strong> of <strong>Tinley Park<\/strong>, and <a title=\"Danielle Cloutier :: Official Site\" href=\"http:\/\/www.daniellecloutier.com\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Danielle Cloutier<\/strong> of <strong>Los Angeles<\/strong><\/a>, who employed pure improvisation in their on-camera search for nothing particularly important. However, they <em>did <\/em>find themselves a cornfield despite an inept sense of direction. The graphic comes to us from the personal collection of <strong>CUBlog <\/strong>friend and former UI student <strong>Leith Adams<\/strong>, now the <a title=\"Corporate Archive Research Center :: Warner Bros. Studio Facilities\" href=\"http:\/\/www2.warnerbros.com\/web\/wbsf\/index.jsp?section=researchcenter\" target=\"_blank\">senior archivist at <strong>Warner Bros. Studios<\/strong><\/a> in <strong>Burbank, CA<\/strong>. We\u2019re pretty certain the presence of a WB picture on the flier is sheer coincidence.
