Most fall squarely under the \u201chow they did it\u201d category, beginning with a raw close-up of charismatic <strong>Jonathan Harden<\/strong> who plays adventurer \u201cSpring Heel Jack\u201d in <a title=\"ONCE UPON A TIME IN 1972 @ Facebook\" href=\"http:\/\/www.facebook.com\/1972movie\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>ONCE UPON A TIME IN 1972<\/strong><\/a> from <a title=\"Kill Vampire Lincoln Productions :: Home Page\" href=\"http:\/\/www.killvampirelincoln.com\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Kill Vampire Lincoln Productions<\/strong><\/a> of <strong>Champaign<\/strong>. Pace)\" src=\"http:\/\/www.micro-film-magazine.com\/Images\/CUBlog Art\/cu_archives3_charmbillytower.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"450\" height=\"334\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Nine years ago from right about now, we ran the above photograph in <strong>MICRO-FILM<\/strong> 5 to illustrate the low-budget ingenuity used to stage extensive water tower scenes from the tense drama <strong>CHARMING BILLY<\/strong>, filmed by <strong>Havana, IL<\/strong>, native <a title=\"Wm. Pace's ScripTeach :: Home Page\" href=\"http:\/\/scripteach.com\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Wm. R. Pace<\/strong><\/a> in and near his hometown in 1999. While actor <strong>Michael Hayden<\/strong> is shown approaching a real-life structure in the movie, most scenes involving his character\u2019s shooting spree were accomplished using this partial recreation of the tank and catwalk.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 3em; text-align: left;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><!--more--><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" title=\"Mike Trippiedi and crew prepare to film a scene for AMBER ROSE. (Photo: Jason Pankoke)\" src=\"http:\/\/www.micro-film-magazine.com\/Images\/CUBlog Art\/cu_archives3_amberrosehouse.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"450\" height=\"317\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Last year, lead actress <strong>Carolyn Kodes-Atkinson<\/strong> lent her Champaign home to the production of writer\/director <strong>Mike Trippiedi<\/strong>\u2019s second feature <a title=\"AMBER ROSE :: Official Site\" href=\"http:\/\/www.amberrosethemovie.com\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>AMBER ROSE<\/strong><\/a>, at which the crew seemingly used every square foot of her porch and front yard to position personnel, camera, and gear. (Photo: Jason Pankoke)\" src=\"http:\/\/www.micro-film-magazine.com\/Images\/CUBlog Art\/cu_archives3_pressstart2cards.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"450\" height=\"336\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">We keep forgetting about snaps taken during our <a title=\"PRESS START 2 CONTINUE :: Dark Maze Studios\" href=\"http:\/\/www.darkmaze.com\/pressstart2\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>PRESS START 2 CONTINUE<\/strong><\/a> set visit in late 2009, so for the first time we share this candid of director <strong>Ed Glaser<\/strong> talking actors <strong>Jennifer Zahn<\/strong> and <strong>Joshua Stafford<\/strong> through a round of the fictional \u201cJackamo\u201d card game; they\u2019re joined by animated characters from the game in the finished movie. Our observations took place in the mystical Champaign warehouse space of <strong>Dallas &amp; Company<\/strong>, which has served many a <strong>Dark Maze Studios<\/strong> project well.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 3em; text-align: left;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" title=\"Bill Kephart enjoys reading MICRO-FILM on the UIUC campus. (Photos: Jason Pankoke)\" src=\"http:\/\/www.micro-film-magazine.com\/Images\/CUBlog Art\/cu_archives3_microfilmbillk.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"450\" height=\"266\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">We\u2019re also horrible about occasionally staging photo shoots for something-or-others that don\u2019t quite pan out, such as a 2005 series depicting various friends of the cause reading <a title=\"Splash Page :: MICRO-FILM\" href=\"http:\/\/www.micro-film-magazine.com\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>MICRO-FILM<\/strong><\/a> back issues. Here, <strong>Bill Kephart<\/strong> of <strong>REVOLTING <\/strong>fame strikes poses with <strong>MF<\/strong> 2 near the <strong>Lincoln Avenue<\/strong> gateway on the <strong>University of Illinois<\/strong> campus. We don\u2019t remember what delicacy Kephart toted along in the little paper bag, so please don\u2019t write us and ask.
