\nIt\u2019s Time for CUBiz: The Short Form!<\/strong><\/p>\n

So, the self-imposed \u201ctaking time off\u201d initiative didn\u2019t quite <\/em>work out this week. We already know this non-slacking trend will continue into next week when we\u2019ll post the official press release for our upcoming special issue, C-U Confidential \u201999<\/strong>! This title will begin the process of not only recounting the history of film in Champaign, Urbana<\/strong>, and the cities beyond from a retrospective angle, but also attempting to explain what it all means<\/em>. Are you ready for them <\/em>apples, dearest readers?<\/p>\n

The \u201cRevenge of Print\u201d anchored by Atomic Books<\/strong> of Baltimore <\/strong>marches forth in 2011!<\/p>\n

\u201cPotpourri\u201d is the name of the game today, gang! First, the IMC Public I<\/span><\/strong> notes the premiere of a new local documentary<\/a>, THIS IS MY JOURNEY<\/strong> by University of Illinois<\/strong> alum and former UI-7<\/strong> station manager Kate Brickman<\/strong>, on Tuesday, September 6<\/strong> at the Art Theater<\/strong>; it talks of the struggles faced by three transgender citizens in central Illinois. The Pantagraph<\/strong><\/span> reports that movie and television actor LeVar Burton<\/strong> and controversial columnist and pundit Dan Savage<\/strong> will appear during a fall lecture series at the Bone Student Center<\/strong><\/a> of Illinois State University<\/strong> in Normal<\/strong>. Park Street<\/strong> in downtown Champaign will be partly closed for the first half of next week through Wednesday, August 31<\/strong>, to accommodate installation of the new \u201cold style\u201d Virginia Theater<\/strong> marquee, according to the News-Gazette<\/strong><\/span><\/a>.
