1st PRINT SPECIAL “C-U BLOGFIDENTIAL ’99” TO EXPLAIN “HOW IT ALL BEGAN” THIS NOVEMBER!

(Champaign, Illinois, USA<\/strong>) September 2, 2011<\/strong>: This fall, the downstate Illinois movie Weblog C-U Blogfidential<\/strong> will issue its first \u201coff-season\u201d print title called C-U Confidential \u201999<\/strong>, which pictures the year 1999 as a crucial turning point for cinema consumption and production in and near Champaign-Urbana, Illinois<\/strong>. CU99<\/strong> will be introduced at one or more Midwestern film festivals and then made available on-line and at select stores for purchase beginning in November.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are excited to publish outside our traditional springtime release pattern with this special issue,\u201d says C-U Confidential<\/strong> publisher\/editor Jason Pankoke<\/strong>. \u201cCU99<\/strong> will explore an unheralded legacy left by the \u2018Local Film Class of \u201899\u2019 on Champaign, Urbana, and the surrounding downstate Illinois region, revisiting key developments from that calendar year including the launch of Roger Ebert\u2019s Film Festival<\/strong> in Champaign, the resurrection of Decatur<\/strong>\u2019s Avon Theater<\/strong>, and the founding of the Illini Film & Video<\/strong> student club at the University of Illinois<\/strong>.\u201d<\/p>\n

C-U Confidential \u201899<\/strong> will also bring back memories of numerous people, places, and projects active at the time, designed in the attractive digest format familiar to CUZine <\/strong>fans since its first regular issue appeared in 2007. Contributors will include: Jason \u201cJava\u201d Croft<\/strong> of Bachelor Pad Magazine<\/strong><\/span>, Luke Boyce<\/strong> of Shatterglass Studios<\/strong>, Lisa Cerezo<\/strong> of Psychic Joker Entertainment<\/strong>, and Paper Opteryx<\/strong> founder Pankoke, who launched his unique body of independent film reporting in 1999 by self-publishing the first issue of CUZine<\/strong> predecessor MICRO-FILM<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

A complete list of contents, festival appearances, and release dates will be announced in the near future. Retail price for the 48-page C-U Confidential \u201899<\/strong> special will be $4.00 U.S.<\/p>\n
