These include screenings at the <strong>Art Theater, 126 W. Church St.<\/strong>, <strong>downtown Champaign<\/strong>, of <strong>Alfred Hitchcock<\/strong>\u2019s game-changing thriller <strong>PSYCHO<\/strong> (1960; <strong>Sat. Oct. 22, 12 p.m.<\/strong>) and <strong>Universal Studios<\/strong>\u2019 horror crown jewel <strong>FRANKENSTEIN<\/strong> (1931; <strong>Sat. Oct. 29, 12 p.m.<\/strong>), followed immediately by discussion groups that will meet down the block at <strong>Destihl Restaurant &amp; Brew Works<\/strong>. CUFS has also scheduled their first production workshop, \u201c<strong>Intro to DSLR Filmmaking<\/strong>,\u201d to be taught <strong>Saturday, November 12<\/strong>, by <strong>C<a title=\"Scott Regan Photography :: Home Page\" href=\"http:\/\/scottreganphoto.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">hicago<\/a><\/strong><a title=\"Scott Regan Photography :: Home Page\" href=\"http:\/\/scottreganphoto.com\/\" target=\"_blank\"> commercial photographer <strong>Scott Regan<\/strong><\/a> in the <strong>M2 building<\/strong>, also home to the Shatterglass offices.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" title=\"CU Film Society (courtesy CUFS)\" src=\"http:\/\/www.micro-film-magazine.com\/Images\/CUBlog%20Art\/cu_cufilmsociety_logo.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"450\" height=\"157\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">These initial outings illustrate how CUFS will follow the contemporary approach to what a \u201cfilm society\u201d provides its members and, by proximity, the surrounding community since many branded events will be open to the public. The model encourages film lovers to enjoy the theatrical experience of watching a fine film in good company and then interact with one another after the end credits roll, while also empowering hands-on creators with knowledge, instruction, and tools to join the ranks \u2013 if not immediately the uppermost stratosphere \u2013 of artists and storytellers who make movies. <strong>C-U Blogfidential<\/strong> believes a big motivation here is to provide foundation for a continuous movie culture shared with <strong>Champaign-Urbana<\/strong> citizenry in ways that other institutions, specifically the <strong>University of Illinois<\/strong>, have not been willing or able to do outside of the annual <strong>Roger Ebert\u2019s Film Festival<\/strong> or the occasional showcase such as the <strong>Latin American Film Festival<\/strong>, <a title=\"The Art Theater :: Home Page\" href=\"http:\/\/www.thecuart.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">concluding tonight at the Art<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">If you support the aims of the CUFS, then <a title=\"Membership :: CU Film Society\" href=\"http:\/\/cufilmsociety.org\/membership\/\" target=\"_blank\">put your money where your mouth is and hit the Web site\u2019s \u201cMembership\u201d page<\/a>, where one-year rates begin at a ridiculously low $15 for individuals.
