Oh, mercy<\/em>, when will you creative types stop being so creative?<\/p>\n

We loved it when C-U Blogfidential<\/strong> friends Anne Shivers<\/strong> and Chris Lukeman<\/strong> got engaged at a movie theater<\/a>. Now, we scratch our heads in synchronized bemusement upon learning that Normal<\/strong> resident Paul A.\u00a0Brooks<\/strong>, a freelance videographer who co-edited and acted in the B-N horror-comedy LATE AFTERNOON OF THE LIVING DEAD<\/strong> (see item: 6\/8\/07<\/a>), culminated a year-long courtship with Aussie cutie Caragh Brooks<\/strong> (yes, identical surname; no, individual lineage) by getting hitched at a local\u00a0Taco Bell<\/strong> last Friday, January 9<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Of course, the $200 ceremony – attended by parents, grandparents, friends, Taco Bell employees, and unwary customers that happened to drop in at the time – was\u00a0taped by LATE AFTERNOON<\/strong> writer\/director Jason Huls<\/strong>, who also served as witness. “They wanted something quick, low stress, and fun,” Huls\u00a0confirms for\u00a0CUBlog<\/strong>. “[Caragh] just told me a couple of magazines in Australia want to buy their story. I guess you never know what’s going to hit.”<\/p>\n

There’s<\/em> an understatement. After running this story and video<\/a>, The Pantagraph<\/span><\/strong> reported today<\/a>\u00a0that the self-described “off-beat couple” have appeared on CBS<\/strong> television’s EARLY SHOW<\/strong> and are invited to do the same\u00a0for THE TONIGHT SHOW<\/strong> on NBC<\/strong>. The big media attention aside, we sincerely congratulate them and hope imagination continues to play a big role in their life together, especially in cases such as this when they forego the expected and, a-hem<\/em>, think outside the bun. Thank you, thank you. [Takes bow.]<\/p>\n

Now, about optioning those movie rights…<\/p>\n
