(<a title=\"ActualEyes channel @ YouTube\" href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/user\/MattHarsh\" target=\"_blank\">Both are prevalent in the bulk of his <strong>YouTube<\/strong> channel uploads.<\/a>) First out the gate is a charming collaboration with <strong>Sam Ambler<\/strong> for the song \u201c<strong>Lovesick<\/strong>,\u201d performed by <strong>Urbana<\/strong> acoustic troubadour <strong>Morgan Orion<\/strong>, which made its on-line premiere last month:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><object width=\"450\" height=\"253\" classid=\"clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000\" codebase=\"http:\/\/download.macromedia.com\/pub\/shockwave\/cabs\/flash\/swflash.cab#version=6,0,40,0\"><param name=\"allowFullScreen\" value=\"true\" \/><param name=\"allowscriptaccess\" value=\"always\" \/><param name=\"src\" value=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/2u7PxEfjqvw?version=3&amp;hl=en_US\" \/><param name=\"allowfullscreen\" value=\"true\" \/><embed width=\"450\" height=\"253\" type=\"application\/x-shockwave-flash\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/2u7PxEfjqvw?version=3&amp;hl=en_US\" allowFullScreen=\"true\" allowscriptaccess=\"always\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" \/><\/object><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">It hardly means he\u2019ll scale back on the live gigs, especially where he can flex his creativity. On <strong>December 9<\/strong>, HarsH helped arrange \u201ca night of electronic and experimental music\u201d at <strong>Mike \u2018n Molly\u2019s<\/strong> in downtown <strong>Champaign<\/strong>, which featured live performances by <strong>Anna Karina, Blueprints for a Future Technology, Forgottonia Secedes, Kirkwood West<\/strong>, and <strong>Psychic Twin<\/strong> along with a real-time video installation. We didn\u2019t get to experience it firsthand but we <em>can<\/em> point you to the following example of HarsH\u2019s multimedia environments, which illustrated <strong>Smile Politely<\/strong>\u2019s coverage of the December show. This previous cornucopia, staged at <strong>The Highdive<\/strong> in 2008, is called \u201c<strong>RHXQ<\/strong>\u201d and involves video projection, hanging sheets, vocalist <strong>Jonah<\/strong> from Blueprints\u2026, and backing duo <strong>Kristov\u2019s Agenda<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><object width=\"450\" height=\"335\" classid=\"clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000\" codebase=\"http:\/\/download.macromedia.com\/pub\/shockwave\/cabs\/flash\/swflash.cab#version=6,0,40,0\"><param name=\"allowFullScreen\" value=\"true\" \/><param name=\"allowscriptaccess\" value=\"always\" \/><param name=\"src\" value=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/DYItfWPJhuc?version=3&amp;hl=en_US\" \/><param name=\"allowfullscreen\" value=\"true\" \/><embed width=\"450\" height=\"335\" type=\"application\/x-shockwave-flash\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/DYItfWPJhuc?version=3&amp;hl=en_US\" allowFullScreen=\"true\" allowscriptaccess=\"always\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" \/><\/object><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">HarsH occasionally sets up similar installations in venues like the <strong>Urbana Independent Media Center<\/strong> and Champaign\u2019s <strong>Caf\u00e9 Luna<\/strong> when not booking and promoting an arsenal of hip-hop, dubstep, and turntablist events throughout <strong>Illinois<\/strong> and <strong>Missouri<\/strong>. These include the down tempo <a title=\"Chillax shows @ Facebook\" href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/pages\/Chillax\/185530448131445\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Chillax<\/strong><\/a> gigs, the rambunctious <a title=\"Dubstep Massacre shows @ Facebook\" href=\"http:\/\/www.facebook.com\/DubstepMassacre\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Dubstep Massacres<\/strong><\/a>, the massive <a title=\"The Wolf Pack shows @ Facebook\" href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/pages\/The_Wolf_Pack\/128161177223862\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Wolf Pack<\/strong><\/a> showcases in league with the <strong>Chicago<\/strong> label of the same name, and the <a title=\"The Common Mind shows @ Facebook\" href=\"http:\/\/www.facebook.com\/pages\/The-Common-Mind\/232216061657\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Common Mind<\/strong><\/a> extravaganzas combining the forces of music, visual, and media artists.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">~ Jason Pankoke<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>From the \u201cImages of the Week\u201d Dept.: Stop, drop, and watch the new music video for &#8220;Lovesick&#8221; by Morgan Orion, produced by Sam Ambler and Matt HarsH, the latter whom we discuss further because he concocts cool musician\/projection hybrids in clubs.
