We\u2019re happy to announce that we can put our wanderlust days behind us, thanks to new event partners and an unlikely home fully equipped for all our cinema-projecting needs!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Starting this <strong>Friday, January 27<\/strong>, at <strong>10 p.m.<\/strong>, <strong>C-U Confidential<\/strong> and magic\/sideshow mavens, <a title=\"The Psychic Joker :: Home Page\" href=\"http:\/\/www.psychicjoker.com\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Psychic Joker Entertainment<\/strong><\/a>, will present a monthly late-night movie showcase at <strong><a title=\"SoDo Theatre :: Home Page\" href=\"http:\/\/www.sodotheatre.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">SoDo Theatre<\/a>, 114 S. Neil St.<\/strong>, in Champaign\u2019s \u201csouth downtown\u201d area. Initial double- and triple-features will be assembled from material in the public domain and billed as \u201c<strong>Psychic Joker\u2019s Time Traveling Cinema<\/strong>,\u201d playing on our mutual interest in full motion ephemera and lasting until <strong style=\"text-align: left;\">2 a.m.<\/strong> Cover will be $5 while goodies and drinks (<em>sans<\/em> alcohol, for now) will be made available to you, dearest viewers, for a mere $1 an item.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">We launch the Time Traveling Cinema with <strong>THE YESTERDAY MACHINE<\/strong> (1963), about a former Nazi scientist who constructs a time machine and plots a return to <strong>World War II<\/strong> in order to change history! We then zip back farther to the late Silent Era with a haunting short adaptation of the <strong>Edgar Allan Poe<\/strong> story, <strong>THE FALL OF THE HOUSE OF USHER<\/strong> (1928), and finally conclude with <strong>HOUSE ON HAUNTED HILL<\/strong> (1959) starring an actor synonymous with later Poe films, the great <strong>Vincent Price<\/strong>, and directed by a <strong>Hollywood<\/strong> showman famous for his promotional gimmicks, <strong>William Castle<\/strong>!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Please come support our maiden voyage at SoDo, even if you <em>must<\/em> be fashionably late! (<strong>HOUSE ON HAUNTED HILL<\/strong> should start at approximately <strong>12:30 a.m.<\/strong>) Depending on attendance levels and reactions in the early goings, we <em>may<\/em> vary future line-ups to include theme nights, \u201cguest curator\u201d nights, local film nights akin to the <strong>New Art Film Festival<\/strong>, and exclusive screenings of current indie and underground films from across the <strong>United States<\/strong> in the esoteric <strong>MICRO-FILM<\/strong> vein.
