(Photo: WestMidWest Productions LLC)\" src=\"http:\/\/www.micro-film-magazine.com\/Images\/CUBlog%20Art\/cu_revengecar_boblutz.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"450\" height=\"275\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Our <a title=\"A Knife in a Gun Fight by Michelle Kaffko :: C-U Blogfidential\" href=\"https:\/\/www.micro-film-magazine.com\/cublog\/?cat=218\" target=\"_blank\">lovely <strong>Chicago<\/strong> columnist<\/a>, <strong>Michelle Kaffko<\/strong>, has been pulling major double duty while on <strong>CUBlog<\/strong> sabbatical, drumming up clients for <a title=\"Organic Headshots by Michelle Kaffko :: Home Page\" href=\"http:\/\/www.organicheadshots.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">her photography business<\/a> as well as playing Match Queen between the American public and <strong>REVENGE OF THE ELECTRIC CAR<\/strong>, a feature length sequel to director <strong>Chris Paine<\/strong>\u2019s well-received original, <a title=\"WHO KILLED THE ELECTRIC CAR? :: Sony Pictures Classics\" href=\"http:\/\/www.sonyclassics.com\/whokilledtheelectriccar\/?detectflash=false&amp;\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>WHO KILLED THE ELECTRIC CAR?<\/strong><\/a> Released on DVD this past Tuesday by <a title=\"Docurama Films :: Home Page\" href=\"http:\/\/www.docurama.com\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Docurama Films<\/strong><\/a>, <strong>REVENGE<\/strong> has already traveled well during a full year\u2019s worth of nationwide play dates booked by specialty distributor <strong>Area23a<\/strong> and the company behind the film, <strong>WestMidWest Productions LLC<\/strong>. Their theatrical lap continues later tonight, <strong>Thursday, January 26<\/strong>, with a<strong> 7 p.m.<\/strong> show at the <strong>Normal Theater, 209 North St., Normal, IL<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Kaffko is credited on <strong>REVENGE<\/strong> as \u201cProducer of Marketing and Distribution,\u201d an unusual title she\u2019ll gladly add to her r\u00e9sum\u00e9. \u201cDistributing an independent film all on your own and without big studio backing is a labor of love and a lot of work, but <em>so<\/em> rewarding,\u201d she tells <strong>CUBlog<\/strong> about her first movie publicity gig. \u201cIt\u2019s a lot like throwing a big birthday party. Lots of planning, promoting, inviting, then one huge party that happens so fast your head spins.\u201d Apart from <strong>REVENGE<\/strong>, this particular \u201cEVening of EVs\u201d will entail a post-film Q &amp; A session with executive producer <strong>Stefano Durdic<\/strong> and <strong>Normal<\/strong> mayor <strong>Chris Koos<\/strong> as well as an EV exhibition in the neighboring <strong>Marriott Hotel &amp; Conference Center<\/strong> from <strong>5:30<\/strong> to <strong>9:45 p.m.<\/strong> The documentary will also run <strong>7 p.m. Friday<\/strong> at the Normal, with Durdic in attendance.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Following <strong>KILLED<\/strong>, which traced early advances in Electric Vehicle (EV) feasibility and chronicled a squelched attempt in southern <strong>California<\/strong> to offer the American public EVs as a transportation option, <strong>REVENGE<\/strong> looks at the modern resurgence of EV research and development through the insider eyes of <strong>General Motors<\/strong> executive <strong>Bob Lutz<\/strong>, a former naysayer who reversed course and championed the Volt, <strong>Tesla Motors<\/strong> president <strong>Elon Musk<\/strong>, a <strong>Silicon Valley<\/strong> billionaire who dared to sink money into an EV upstart, <strong>Nissan<\/strong> head <strong>Carlos Ghosn<\/strong>, another previous skeptic who turns over a leaf by pushing the company\u2019s mass market LEAF car, and <strong>Greg \u201cGadget\u201d Abbott<\/strong>, a backyard tinkerer determined to turn his Porsche Speedster into a custom EV. <strong>Hollywood<\/strong> actor <strong>Tim Robbins<\/strong> narrates.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><!--more--><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" title=\"Chris Paine, director of REVENGE OF THE ELECTRIC CAR (Photo: WestMidWest Productions LLC)\" src=\"http:\/\/www.micro-film-magazine.com\/Images\/CUBlog%20Art\/cu_revengecar_chrispaine.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"450\" height=\"307\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">When available, Kaffko banks on special attractions to help reinforce the core messages of <strong>REVENGE<\/strong> such as in-person testimonials from the filmmaking team and appearances by local EV owners and their cars, parked outside screening venues for audience members to examine. \u201cPeople who own electric cars love them so much and want other people to see the cars, drive the cars, and see the film so they can get better acquainted with the idea of more electric vehicles being on the roads,\u201d explains Kaffko. The Marriott collection will include a <strong>Mitsubishi i, Nissan LEAF, Chevy Volt, Tesla Roadster, Fisker Karma<\/strong>, and vintage <strong>1976 Vanguard<\/strong>, according to <a title=\"Uptown Normal stages EV car show and movie screening :: WJBC  AM 1230\" href=\"http:\/\/wjbc.com\/uptown-normal-hosts-electric-car-show-and-movie\/\" target=\"_blank\">a recent <strong>Uptown Normal<\/strong> press release<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Having <strong>REVENGE<\/strong> cruise through Redbird Country is probably inevitable given how car manufacturer <strong>Mitsubishi<\/strong>, which employs many <strong>Bloomington<\/strong>-Normal residents at a local plant, <a title=\"Mitsubishi 30-second commercial, &quot;Normal&quot; :: YouTube\" href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=wx_X6tCwet4\" target=\"_blank\">depicted Normal as a budding \u201c<strong>EVtown<\/strong>\u201d in a commercial spot<\/a> currently airing on national television. Kaffko learned of it when the documentary premiered in Chicago. \u201cSomeone from <a title=\"The Bloomington-Normal Electric Vehicle Task Force :: Home Page\" href=\"http:\/\/www.evtown.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">[the] EVtown [initiative in B-N]<\/a> was there and talked to me about it, so we started collaborating to bring the film to Normal,\u201d she remembers. \u201cOne of the advocates there, <strong>Joe Mikulecky<\/strong>, has worked his butt off to bring together local government, EVtown, Mitsubishi, and even the Marriott [to] turn it into a huge event the whole town can go to.\u201d Information booths and photo shoots will enhance the fun-and-facts spirit of the \u201cEVening of EVs.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">\u201cIt\u2019s all so amazing and the best date that worked for the theater, hotel, and everyone else just happened to be the week of the DVD release,\u201d muses Kaffko, who has previously worked on several shorts and documentaries in the Midwest. \u201cWhile most of the filmmakers [behind <strong>REVENGE<\/strong>] are in <strong>Los Angeles<\/strong> and got to have a huge premiere there for the first theatrical showings, [Durdic] and I are in Chicago,\u201d she reasons, \u201cso it feels really good to have a big DVD premiere event in our home state.\u201d <a title=\"REVENGE OF THE ELECTRIC CAR :: Official Site\" href=\"http:\/\/www.revengeoftheelectriccar.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Evidence on the official Web site<\/a>, including a growing list of future theatrical engagements, proves there will be little respite for this timely <strong>REVENGE<\/strong> or the dawning EV revolution which fuels it.
