{"id":51,"date":"2006-05-02T21:57:32","date_gmt":"2006-05-03T03:57:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.micro-film-magazine.com\/cublog\/?p=51"},"modified":"2014-09-06T15:02:17","modified_gmt":"2014-09-06T21:02:17","slug":"press-start-update-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.micro-film-magazine.com\/cublog\/?p=51","title":{"rendered":"PRESS START update 2"},"content":{"rendered":"<p align=\"left\"><em>From April 28, 2006:<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE<\/strong><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><strong>Press Start Movie Animated Prologues Premiere Online<\/strong><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><strong>CHAMPAIGN, IL (April 28, 2006)<\/strong> \u2013 While the movie may take some time to complete, all those eagerly anticipating the upcoming videogame adventure comedy\u00a0<strong>PRESS START<\/strong>\u00a0now have something to hold them over. <strong>Dark Maze Studios<\/strong> has premiered a monthly series of short Flash cartoons called\u00a0<strong>PRESS START: BONUS LEVELS<\/strong>\u00a0on the film\u2019s Web site, <a title=\"PRESS START :: Home Page\" href=\"http:\/\/www.pressstartmovie.com\" target=\"_blank\">www.pressstartmovie.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">Created and animated by <strong>PRESS START<\/strong> writer <strong>Kevin Folliard<\/strong> and produced by\u00a0<strong>PRESS START<\/strong>\u00a0director\/producer <strong>Ed Glaser<\/strong>, <strong>BONUS LEVELS<\/strong> goes where the movie can\u2019t, introducing audiences to the world of the film even before the movie is completed.<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">\u201c<strong>BONUS LEVELS<\/strong> allows us to tell some of the back-story, anecdotes, and jokes that we just couldn\u2019t explore within the time and money constraints of our low-budget movie,\u201d explains Glaser. \u201cWe\u2019ve created a whole goofy universe for the <strong>PRESS START<\/strong> characters, and this gives us the chance to have more fun with it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">Episodes will premiere on the last Friday of every month. Each will be only a few minutes long and will feature the voice talents of the <strong>PRESS START<\/strong> cast, as well as others, plus music by professional videogame composer <strong>Jake \u201cvirt\u201d Kaufman<\/strong>. And while Glaser isn\u2019t mentioning any names just yet, he expects videogame fans to find some enjoyable surprises among the guest voices.<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">The premiere episode finds irate ninja Lin-Ku at a bar, fuming over an unexpected turn of events at a recent fighting tournament.<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><strong>PRESS START<\/strong>\u00a0tells the story of a suburban youth in a videogame world who discovers his adventurous, if berserk, destiny when he&#8217;s recruited by an ill-tempered ninja and a tough-as-nails space soldier to save the world from a tyrannical, but comically insecure, sorcerer.<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><strong>About Dark Maze Studios<\/strong><br \/>\nDark Maze Studios is a Champaign, Illinois-based micro-budget independent film studio that strives to produce high-quality entertainment on budgets Hollywood would consider pocket change.
