{"id":53,"date":"2006-05-04T21:52:44","date_gmt":"2006-05-05T03:52:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.micro-film-magazine.com\/cublog\/?p=53"},"modified":"2014-09-06T15:02:17","modified_gmt":"2014-09-06T21:02:17","slug":"achoo-wins-25by25by5-contest","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.micro-film-magazine.com\/cublog\/?p=53","title":{"rendered":"ACHOO wins 25by25by5 contest"},"content":{"rendered":"<p align=\"left\">Last night, the first <strong>Champaign-Urbana 25by25by5 Short Film Contest<\/strong> culminated in a screening at the <strong>University YMCA<\/strong> on Wright Street in Campustown, where <strong>ACHOO<\/strong> by <strong>Tim Peters<\/strong>\u00a0won the Best Film award and <strong>THE<\/strong> <strong>RETURN<\/strong> by <strong>Warren Bensken<\/strong> won the Audience Choice award. Also in competition was <strong>CHICKEN MAN<\/strong> by <strong>Joe Taylor<\/strong>, while a pair of non-competition movies,\u00a0<strong>DOGUMENT<\/strong> by <strong>Jill Miller<\/strong> and <strong>THE ADVENTURES OF THE SCREAMING APE<\/strong> by <strong>Jason Butler<\/strong>, rounded out the program.<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">Preceding the films, a short videotaped prologue by contest coordinators <strong>Mike and Lori Hansen<\/strong> and <strong>Donna Crossin<\/strong> introduced <strong>Team in Training<\/strong> (TNT), an outreach effort by the local <strong>Leukemia &#038; Lymphoma Society<\/strong> chapter\u00a0intended &#8220;to increase awareness and funding to support the mission of the Society while promoting fitness and healthy lifestyles in an effort to find a cure,&#8221; per their mission statement. All the money\u00a0collected at\u00a0the YMCA awards show will go towards research costs for finding cures to leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin&#8217;s disease, and myeloma.<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">Judges for the evening included: <strong>Geoff Merritt<\/strong>, owner of <strong>That&#8217;s Rentertainment<\/strong> in Champaign; <strong>Marty McKee<\/strong>, author of the column &#8220;Marty&#8217;s Cult Movie Classic&#8221; in the Champaign weekly\u00a0<strong><u>The Hub<\/u><\/strong>; Jason Butler, C-U filmmaker behind the APE and <strong>WEREWOLF CEMETERY<\/strong> series (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.micro-film-magazine.com\/cublog\/?p=49\">see item: 4\/22\/06<\/a>); and yours truly, <strong>Jason Pankoke<\/strong>.
