{"id":56,"date":"2006-05-08T22:05:30","date_gmt":"2006-05-09T04:05:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.micro-film-magazine.com\/cublog\/?p=56"},"modified":"2014-09-06T15:02:17","modified_gmt":"2014-09-06T21:02:17","slug":"bn-film-fest-returns-this-week","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.micro-film-magazine.com\/cublog\/?p=56","title":{"rendered":"BN Film Fest returns to Normal"},"content":{"rendered":"<p align=\"left\">One week after hosting the premiere of <strong>Owen Brazas&#8217;<\/strong> indie feature <strong>ARTS &#038; SCIENCE<\/strong>, the good folks at the\u00a0<strong>Normal Theater, 209 North St., Normal, IL<\/strong>,\u00a0will provide a public showcase for additional homegrown product when the annual <strong>BN Film Fest<\/strong> returns on <strong>Tuesday, May 9, 7-9 p.m.<\/strong>, and <strong>Wednesday, May 10, 7-10 p.m.<\/strong> Tuesday&#8217;s show, which features work made by students from kindergarten to grade 12, will be free admission, while a $5 suggested donation will be collected\u00a0at the door for Wednesday&#8217;s show, comprised of independently-made short subjects.<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">&#8220;We are primarily a grassroots, local festival,&#8221; BN Film Fest co-director <strong>Matt Gullett<\/strong> tells <strong>C-U Blogfidential<\/strong>. &#8220;Most of the work that we receive and show is from local K-12 students and college students. We\u00a0[also] receive a few things from fledgling independent flimmakers [each year] &#8230; the festival started more than six years ago\u00a0[in order]\u00a0to give K-12 students a night to show their work on the big screen to parents, friends, and peers.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">The event is sponsored by the Normal Theater, the <strong>Bloomington Public Library<\/strong>, and the <strong>Bloomington Normal Education Alliance<\/strong>.
