Instead of the expected Yuletide standards, we\u2019ve brought together a few fresh compositions by the <strong>Champaign-Urbana<\/strong> music scene\u2019s younger generation who follow in the footsteps of <a title=\"They are real NOWHERE men :: C-U Blogfidential\" href=\"https:\/\/www.micro-film-magazine.com\/cublog\/?p=5379\" target=\"_blank\">those trailblazers featured in the documentary, <strong>OUT OF NOWHERE<\/strong><\/a>. Let\u2019s get to the A\/V action, then!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Performers gracing <strong>C-U Blogfidential<\/strong> in the past via their video work have released new shorts in recent months. First up is a whimsical <strong>WIZARD OF OZ<\/strong> inspired accompaniment to the <a title=\"Belatedly hitting a BURNT beat :: C-U Blogfidential\" href=\"https:\/\/www.micro-film-magazine.com\/cublog\/?p=970\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Megan Johns<\/strong><\/a> song \u201c<strong>Sunday Drive<\/strong>\u201d which appears on <a title=\"Megan Johns @ Bandcamp\" href=\"http:\/\/meganjohns.bandcamp.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">her springtime EP release, <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Hey Lonely<\/span><\/strong><\/a>. After strumming an initial verse in a loft, Johns becomes a Dorothy surrounded by those amber waves of <strong>Illinois<\/strong> grain as well as new friends: the Cowardly Lion (<strong>Mikael Brackett<\/strong>), the Scarecrow (<strong>Morgan Orion<\/strong>), the Tin Man (<strong>Shannon Swords<\/strong>), and Glinda the Good Witch (<strong>Daniella<\/strong>). Even the proverbial Flying Monkey (<strong>Erin Gillis<\/strong>) catches a break and joins the fun! The concept is simple \u2013 outlandish outfits, candy-colored lighting, gritty photography, rear-projected psychedelia \u2013 but the output is as visceral as one might expect from this band!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><object width=\"450\" height=\"252\" classid=\"clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000\" codebase=\"http:\/\/download.macromedia.com\/pub\/shockwave\/cabs\/flash\/swflash.cab#version=6,0,40,0\"><param name=\"allowFullScreen\" value=\"true\" \/><param name=\"allowscriptaccess\" value=\"always\" \/><param name=\"src\" value=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/OHE0a4oAakc?version=3&amp;hl=en_US\" \/><param name=\"allowfullscreen\" value=\"true\" \/><embed width=\"450\" height=\"252\" type=\"application\/x-shockwave-flash\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/OHE0a4oAakc?version=3&amp;hl=en_US\" allowFullScreen=\"true\" allowscriptaccess=\"always\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" \/><\/object><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><!--more--><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Returning to September, <strong>Georgia<\/strong> art students <strong>Alessandra Hoshor<\/strong> and <strong>Addison Adams<\/strong> brought the surrealism in a short set to the synth-heavy tune \u201c<strong>Gonna Get Her<\/strong>,\u201d recorded by <a title=\"Psychic Twin @ Tumblr\" href=\"http:\/\/psychictwin.tumblr.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Urbana pop trio <strong>Psychic Twin<\/strong><\/a> and <a title=\"&quot;Gonna Get Her&quot; 7&quot; by Psychic Twin :: Lefse Records\" href=\"http:\/\/lefserecords.bigcartel.com\/product\/psychic-twin-gonna-get-her-7-pre-order\" target=\"_blank\">released as a 7-inch by <strong>Lefse Records<\/strong><\/a>.
