Screenplay writing is no exception and <a title=\"Champaign Movie Makers @ Facebook\" href=\"http:\/\/www.facebook.com\/ChampaignMovieMakers\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Champaign Movie Makers<\/strong><\/a> seeks to fill that collaborative need starting tonight, <strong>Thursday, May 2, 6 p.m.<\/strong>, at <strong>Quality Beer, 110 N. Neil St.<\/strong>, in downtown <strong>Champaign<\/strong>. Meant initially to accommodate the discussion of multiple short film scripts each session, per CMM director <strong>Thomas Nicol<\/strong>, this first outing will instead focus on a feature-length effort, \u201c<strong>Development Hell<\/strong>\u201d by <strong>Jeff Kacmarynski<\/strong>. (CMM members acquainted with the <strong>Ning<\/strong> site <a title=\"&quot;Development Hell&quot; script + Meeting notes :: CMM @ Ning\" href=\"http:\/\/champaignmoviemakers.ning.com\/profiles\/blogs\/champaign-screenwriters-may-2013\" target=\"_blank\">can preview \u201cDevelopment Hell\u201d here.<\/a>) Local actors will lend their voices to characters as a narrator reads the intermediate elements. Whether or not you have a shelf or hard drive full of Great American Movie Scripts for the Making, consider supporting CMM&#8217;s effort to expand their reach!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">CMM has also been heavily involved in the script selection and creation of the short films that will premiere during the inaugural <strong>Pens to Lens Awards Gala<\/strong> on <strong>Wednesday, May 29<\/strong>, at the <strong>Art Theater Co-op, 126 W. Church St., Champaign<\/strong>. Launched by the <a title=\"Champaign-Urbana Film Society :: Home Page\" href=\"http:\/\/www.cufilmsociety.org\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Champaign-Urbana Film Society<\/strong><\/a> and co-sponsored by the <strong>Champaign-Urbana Design Organization, ThirdSide<\/strong>,<strong> Accuraty Solutions, <\/strong>and CMM, \u201cP2L\u201d is an initiative to educate and excite the area\u2019s grade- and high-school students about the filmmaking process. More than 120 scripts were submitted by students out of which nine were chosen for production, led by many of Champaign-Urbana\u2019s brightest stars in the scene. While the artifacts themselves can only be accessed on-site for research purposes, you can glean the breadth of material in a 1983 catalog written by <strong>Nancy Allen<\/strong> and <strong>Robert L. Carringer<\/strong>, <a title=\"&quot;An annotated catalog of unpublished film and television scripts at the University of Illinois Library at Urbana-Champaign&quot; :: Digitized Books, University LIbrary, UIUC\" href=\"http:\/\/libsysdigi.library.illinois.edu\/oca\/Books2008-03\/annotatedcatalog00alle\/\" target=\"_blank\">available here in PDF, Flip Book, and text-only formats<\/a>.
