Then came opportunities to digitally preserve his thoughts on\u00a0two of his favorites\u00a0&#8211; <strong>CITIZEN KANE<\/strong> and <strong>DARK CITY<\/strong> &#8211; thereby throwing the Urbana native&#8217;s prior stance right out the window. Ebert has provided his services to several releases since then, which is not a bad thing considering his knack for efficiently vocalizing his opinions and thoughts on the cinema and its history.<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">Last week, <a title=\"BEYOND THE VALLEY @ FoxStore.com\" href=\"http:\/\/www.foxstore.com\/detail.html?item=2311&#038;u=1151235555\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>20th Century Fox Home Entertainment<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0finally unleashed the movie-and-monologue that we all knew had to transpire. <strong>BEYOND THE VALLEY OF THE DOLLS<\/strong>, the 1970 satire chronicling the wild life of an all-girl band called The Carrie Nations, marked the first of two big-studio gigs for the late indie maverick <strong>Russ Meyer<\/strong> (<strong>FASTER, PUSSYCAT! KILL! KILL!<\/strong>) and the first of only three Ebert screenplays to be produced. (He used pseudonyms for Meyer&#8217;s subsequent <strong>UP!<\/strong> and <strong>BENEATH THE VALLEY OF THE ULTRA-VIXENS<\/strong>.) On the brand-new DVD, issued simultaneously with its in-name-only predecessor <strong>VALLEY OF THE DOLLS <\/strong>(1967), Ebert talks solo on one commentary while the film&#8217;s actors discuss the raucous cult classic on a second track, joining a bevy of extras bounding across two discs.<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"BEYOND THE VALLEY OF THE DOLLS (20th Century Fox Home Entertainment) and Sirens of Cinema (RAK Media Group, Inc.)\" alt=\"BEYOND THE VALLEY OF THE DOLLS (20th Century Fox Home Entertainment) and Sirens of Cinema (RAK Media Group, Inc.)\" src=\"http:\/\/www.micro-film-magazine.com\/Images\/CUBlog%20Art\/cu_beyondvalley_soc4.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">Elsewhere, the new issue of <a title=\"Sirens of Cinema :: Home Page\" href=\"http:\/\/www.sirensofcinema.com\/v1\/\" target=\"_blank\"><u><strong>Sirens of Cinema<\/strong><\/u><\/a> magazine (vol.2 no.4) that hit newsstands this past <strong>Tuesday<\/strong>, <strong>June 20<\/strong>,\u00a0features a two-page article by yours truly on upper East Coast actress <strong>Kristen Hudson<\/strong>, who stars in the comedy-horror movies <strong>SILVERSCREAM<\/strong> and <strong>CHAINSAW SALLY<\/strong>. Also contributing an article is former <strong>BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER<\/strong> cast member <strong>Amber Benson<\/strong>, who travelled to Champaign County last summer to play a supporting role in the\u00a0<strong>Robin Peters<\/strong>\/<strong>Dreamscape Cinema<\/strong> production, <strong>BLUEHAIR<\/strong> (formerly <strong>ANGST<\/strong>).
