This past Sunday, August 18<\/strong>, a full house greeted the Danville<\/strong>-based feature film production HOUSE OF THADDEUS<\/strong> with keen attention and overall acclaim in its Champaign<\/strong> premiere. Later tonight, Tuesday, August 20, 7 p.m.<\/strong>, at Shatterglass Studios, 309 S. Neil St., Champaign<\/strong>, the Champaign Movie Makers<\/strong><\/a> crew will sit down with core contributors to the psychological drama \u2013 including director\/cowriter Mike Boedicker<\/strong>, cowriter\/lead actor Bill Kephart<\/strong>, and lead actress Joi Hoffsommer<\/strong>, we presume \u2013 and discuss the two-year-long process which resulted in the piece screened at the Art Theater Co-op<\/strong> over the weekend. Join the CMM audience to share your THADDEUS<\/strong> thoughts and questions while they\u2019re fresh in your mind! As always, announcements will precede and mingling follow the talkback, and you never<\/em> know where the hardiest attendees will wind up afterwards for continued social time.<\/p>\n

If you missed the premiere and are hesitant to attend CMM this month because you lack THADDEUS<\/strong> street cred, you do<\/em> have on-line opportunities to brush up on knowledge beforehand. Apart from Roselawn Productions<\/strong>\u2019 official Web site for the film<\/a>, you can glean plenty from the News-Gazette<\/span><\/strong><\/a> and<\/em> the Commercial-News<\/span><\/strong><\/a> and<\/em> WCIA Channel 3<\/strong><\/a> and<\/em> Smile Politely<\/strong><\/a><\/span> and<\/em> Smile Politely Radio<\/strong><\/a> as local media continues its collective progress in affording area movie productions prompt attention and press. This is heartening to see. Conversely, what is disappointing is we at C-U Blogfidential<\/strong> did not file a timely THADDEUS<\/strong> preview even though your humble editor viewed a rough cut nearly one full year ago courtesy the filmmakers. (Yes, we\u2019re technically still on break<\/a>, but this is<\/em> a milestone \u2026 right?) We\u2019ll see what we can conjure for you when Roselawn books additional C-U and Danville shows in the fall.<\/p>\n

CUBlog<\/strong> will now rebound by pointing you to the one-off program called \u201cSci-Fi Disco and Dead Unicorns<\/strong>\u201d playing the Art tomorrow, Wednesday, August 21, 10 p.m.<\/strong>, featuring the completed New Art Film Festival \u201913<\/strong> selection HEARTSHOT<\/strong><\/a> from Thomas Nicol<\/strong> and Joe Taylor<\/strong> as well as a retooled ONCE UPON A TIME IN THE 1970s<\/strong><\/a> series from Chris<\/strong> and Anne Lukeman<\/strong> and Kill Vampire Lincoln Productions<\/strong>. While \u201c1972<\/strong>,\u201d \u201c1973<\/strong>,\u201d and \u201c1977<\/strong>\u201d have already played festivals and conventions as individual shorts, this configuration \u2013 bowing at last weekend\u2019s Gen Con<\/strong> gaming extravaganza in Indianapolis<\/strong> \u2013 presents the complete story arc as five Webisodes. We\u2019re unclear if the segments simply start and end in different places than before with the new 1970s banner appearing up front or if more extensive post-production has taken place, but we can<\/em> tell you new scenes involving working schlub-come<\/em>-robot henchhuman Bud (Matt Fear<\/strong>) have been added. Hustle on down to the Art for all the transistorpunk you can handle!<\/p>\n
