{"id":6618,"date":"2013-09-11T14:00:00","date_gmt":"2013-09-11T20:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.micro-film-magazine.com\/cublog\/?p=6618"},"modified":"2014-09-06T14:48:13","modified_gmt":"2014-09-06T20:48:13","slug":"monticello-next-in-will-tv-series","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.micro-film-magazine.com\/cublog\/?p=6618","title":{"rendered":"Monticello next in WILL-TV series"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: left;\">It seemed for a spell the <strong>PBS<\/strong> outlet <a title=\"WILL Radio TV Online :: The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign\" href=\"http:\/\/www.will.illinois.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>WILL-TV Channel 12<\/strong><\/a> had reduced its in-house production to the barest basics, presumably due to funding setbacks, but the return of a program absent for more than a decade hopefully signals an imminent rebound for the <strong>University of Illinois<\/strong>-based broadcasting service. Before crowdsourcing became a reliable media resource and consumer-level video acceptable for airing outside of clip shows, WILL oversaw a quartet of hour-long specials between 2000 and 2003 for which dozens of residents living in the towns highlighted \u2013 first <strong>Bloomington-Normal<\/strong> and then <strong>Decatur, Danville<\/strong>, and <strong>Champaign-Urbana<\/strong> \u2013 ventured forth with camcorder and blank tape to capture people, places, and things they loved about where they lived. <strong>A DAY IN OUR HOMETOWN<\/strong> was the series\u2019 name.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Now, a new entry called <strong>WE ARE MONTICELLO<\/strong> will paint a resident-generated portrait of the small town situated between the C-U and Decatur that neighbors the UI\u2019s <strong>Allerton Park &amp; Retreat Center<\/strong>. Veteran WILL producer <strong>Kimberlie Kranich<\/strong>, who worked on the original run, tells <strong>C-U Blogfidential<\/strong> an organizational meeting for interested <strong>Monticello<\/strong> citizens will be held tomorrow, <strong>Thursday, September 12, 7 p.m.<\/strong>, in the auditorium of <strong><a title=\"Monticello (IL) High School :: Community Unit School District #25\" href=\"http:\/\/www.sages.us\/\" target=\"_blank\">Monticello High School<\/a>, 1 Sage Dr., Monticello<\/strong>, after which participants will have until <strong>Saturday, September 28<\/strong>, to record video for submission. As with <strong>HOMETOWN<\/strong>, WILL staff will interview participants about how their segments relate to the character of Monticello; the completed <strong>WE ARE MONTICELLO<\/strong> will then premiere on WILL-TV on <strong>Thursday, December 5<\/strong>, at <strong>7 p.m.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Below is a promotion for tomorrow\u2019s introductory event.
