We now have additional information about it that will be of immediate interest to acting talent wanting to see their faces and names up on the big screen.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Various local media including <a title=\"Movie filming in C-U seeks cast, locations, and extras :: Smile Politely\" href=\"http:\/\/www.smilepolitely.com\/splog\/movie_shooting_in_cu_seeks_cast_locations_extras\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Smile Politely<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/a> and <a title=\"Actors, homes sought for film to be shot in area :: Smile Politely\" href=\"http:\/\/www.news-gazette.com\/arts-entertainment\/local\/2014-04-30\/actors-homes-sought-film-be-shot-area.html\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">The News-Gazette<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/a> have already reported a call for \u201cday players, featured extras, and extras\u201d to appear in the independent feature film production <strong>FOOD<\/strong> developed by filmmaker <strong>Daryl Wein<\/strong> (<strong>LOLA VERSUS<\/strong>) and actress <strong>Zoe Lister-Jones<\/strong> (<strong>SALT<\/strong>). The plot crunch states that <strong>FOOD<\/strong> \u201cfollows a young Midwestern mother [to be played by Lister-Jones] who goes on a journey to uncover the cause of her son\u2019s mysterious illness. Interwoven are the stories of a powerful CEO struggling with his son\u2019s disorder, an organic farmer fighting to save his farm, and two scientists on the brink of a major discovery.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The project is scheduled to shoot in the Champaign-Urbana area for four weeks straight beginning in late May. Talent is encouraged to apply for the various minor roles before the end of tomorrow, <strong>Friday, May 2<\/strong>, by sending contact information and a head shot or clear photo of themselves to <strong>foodthemovie [at] gmail [dot] com<\/strong>. The production also invites homeowners who might like their house featured in the film to contact them through the same e-mail. It looks as if Shatterglass is assuming a coordination and\/or co-production role on <strong>FOOD<\/strong> similar to those on <strong>THE DRUNK<\/strong>, as general inquiries should be directed to either Hays at <strong>(217) 416-0494<\/strong> and <strong>brett [at] shatterglassstudios [dot] com<\/strong> or <strong>Alex Hughes<\/strong> at <strong>(773) 320-1049<\/strong> and <strong>alexhughes312 [at] gmail [dot] com<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Lister-Jones and Wein <a title=\"In Life and Art, It\u2019s All About Us :: The New York Times\" href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2012\/06\/14\/fashion\/daryl-wein-and-zoe-lister-jones-partners-in-life-and-in-movies.html\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #800000;\">received solid press leading up to the theatrical releases of their prior feature films<\/span><\/a> due to creative self-promotion and how their unconventional, real-life courtship inspired the story lines. In 2012, <strong>Fox Searchlight Pictures<\/strong> distributed the aforementioned <a title=\"LOLA VERSUS :: Fox Searchlight Pictures\" href=\"http:\/\/www.foxsearchlight.com\/lolaversus\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>LOLA VERSUS<\/strong><\/span><\/a>, a modern rom-com featuring indie \u201cit girl\u201d <strong>Greta Gerwig<\/strong> as the title character. In 2010, <a title=\"BREAKING UPWARDS on DVD :: MPI Home Video\" href=\"http:\/\/www.mpihomevideo.com\/Store\/Detail.asp?ProdID=10701\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>IFC Films<\/strong> and <strong>MPI Home Video<\/strong><\/span><\/a> gave a modest berth to the lower-budgeted <a title=\"BREAKING UPWARDS :: Official Site\" href=\"http:\/\/www.breakingupwards.com\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>BREAKING UPWARDS<\/strong><\/span><\/a>. For both, Wein directed and Lister-Jones acted in a lead role while they co-wrote <strong>LOLA<\/strong> as well as co-wrote and co-produced <strong>UPWARDS<\/strong> with <strong>Peter Duchan<\/strong>. Earlier in April, Lister-Jones <a title=\"'Off the Cuff' Podcast: Zoe Lister-Jones on Potential Fashion Line: 'I Just Need Some Financial Backers' :: The Hollywood Reporter\" href=\"http:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/news\/zoe-lister-jones-talks-friends-694810\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #800000;\">spoke briefly about <strong>FOOD<\/strong> with a podcast<\/span><\/a> hosted by <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Pret-a-Reporter<\/span><\/strong>, a &#8220;celebrity style&#8221; offshoot of <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">The Hollywood Reporter<\/span><\/strong>, during which she called the new film a \u201cdeparture\u201d for them in subject and tone.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Each has also made entertainment news recently due to other ventures. Following her network gig opposite comedienne <strong>Whitney Cummings<\/strong> on <strong>WHITNEY<\/strong> for two years, <a title=\"Zoe Lister-Jones :: FRIENDS WITH BETTER LIVES :: CBS-TV\" href=\"http:\/\/www.cbs.com\/shows\/friends-with-better-lives\/cast\/214819\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Lister-Jones is a series regular<\/span><\/a> on <strong>FRIENDS WITH BETTER LIVES<\/strong>, a new <strong>CBS-TV<\/strong> sitcom airing Monday nights and co-starring <strong>James Van Der Beek<\/strong> (<strong>DAWSON\u2019S CREEK<\/strong>), <strong>Kevin Connolly<\/strong> (<strong>ENTOURAGE<\/strong>), and <strong>Brooklyn Decker<\/strong> (<strong>WHAT TO EXPECT WHEN YOU\u2019RE EXPECTING<\/strong>). Also, <a title=\"Filmmaker Daryl Wein on Partnering with VICE and AT&amp;T for a Short Film, and What Working With Brands Means for Indie Filmmakers :: IndieWIRE\" href=\"http:\/\/www.indiewire.com\/article\/filmmaker-daryl-wein-on-his-rom-com-lets-get-digital-for-at-t-and-what-product-placement-means-for-indie-filmmakers\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #800000;\">a lengthy interview with Wein posted to <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">IndieWIRE<\/span><\/strong> last week<\/span><\/a> goes over his experience working for <strong>VICE<\/strong> and <strong>AT&amp;T<\/strong> on brand-sponsored content, in this case the short film <strong>LET\u2019S GET DIGITAL<\/strong> with Lister-Jones, <strong>Ryan Hansen<\/strong> (<strong>VERONICA MARS<\/strong>), and <strong>Jon Heder<\/strong> (<strong>NAPOLEON DYNAMITE<\/strong>).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">As usual, <strong>CUBlog<\/strong> will pass along major news as <strong>FOOD<\/strong> unfolds and we\u2019d like to drop a few observations to close. We\u2019re making the educated guess that a Shatterglass or possibly <strong>Roger Ebert\u2019s Film Festival<\/strong> connection was instrumental in Wein and Lister-Jones choosing to shoot here. We hope that after putting their time and hard work in aiding other Midwest productions, from <strong>FOOD<\/strong> and <strong>THE DRUNK<\/strong> to <strong>THE ORIGINS OF WIT &amp; HUMOR,<\/strong> <strong>SEARCHING FOR VENICE,<\/strong> and <strong>LEADING LADIES<\/strong>, Shatterglass will finally establish their own in-house cinematic fare. We also hope <strong>FOOD<\/strong> is a success and forges the path for other out-of-town producers to find worth in centering their location shooting in our area, whether or not agricultural concerns are present in their screenplays.
