(Photo: Anna Zorn\/courtesy Pens to Lens)\" src=\"http:\/\/www.micro-film-magazine.com\/Images\/CUBlog Art\/cu_CUFS_PensToLens2_galacerezo.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"450\" height=\"315\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">It\u2019s only prudent we inform our dearest readers that the entire <strong>Pens to Lens 2014<\/strong> short film roster has been <a title=\"Pens to Lens 2014 films &amp; posters :: Pens to Lens Screenwriting Competition\" href=\"http:\/\/penstolens.com\/history\/pens-to-lens-2014\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #800000;\">uploaded for Internet viewing to the official Web site<\/span><\/a> complete with the thrills, chills, and random lumps in the throat you might remember from <a title=\"IOW: Our kids stay in the pictures :: C-U Blogfidential\" href=\"https:\/\/www.micro-film-magazine.com\/cublog\/?p=7725\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #800000;\">their unveiling <strong>August 9<\/strong> at the <strong>Virginia Theatre<\/strong><\/span><\/a>. Each of the two shows attracted several hundred children and adults who enjoyed the second P2L batch, developed from student-written scripts by a small army of volunteer filmmakers and friends entrenched in <strong>Champaign-Urbana<\/strong>; they hopefully left with a collective sense of community accomplishment as well as personal inspiration to tell stories the cinematic way!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">If you melt at the sight of smiling kids dressed to the nines and having a grand old time, visit <a title=\"Pens to Lens @ Flickr\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/penstolens\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #800000;\">this <strong>Flickr<\/strong> account filled with P2L gala photography<\/span><\/a> by <strong>Anna Zorn<\/strong>. We\u2019ve embedded <strong>KEVIN<\/strong> below as today\u2019s P2L representative along with three of the many movie posters provided by graphic designers from the <strong>Champaign-Urbana Design Organization<\/strong> (CUDO) including <strong>THE RUNNER<\/strong> by <strong>Michael Thomas<\/strong>, <strong>WATCH OUT FOR BUTTERFLIES<\/strong> by <strong>Matt Wiley<\/strong>, and <strong>MY IMAGINATION BECAME A NINJA AND IT\u2019S FOLLOWING ME<\/strong> by <strong>Briana Elsik<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Think the all-ages imagination train ends here for the year? No, sir or ma\u2019am! As with the post-P2L months of 2013, we can probably expect the program and its participants to receive play in the C-U and beyond. One instance will take place <strong>Tuesday, October 14<\/strong>, when P2L and organizer <strong>Thomas Nicol<\/strong> will receive the 2014 \u201cAdvocate ACE\u201d award during the 10th annual <strong>ACE Awards<\/strong> presentation at the <strong>Canopy Club<\/strong> in Urbana. Presented by <strong>40 North 88 West<\/strong>, the <strong>Champaign County<\/strong> arts council, these citations honor individuals or groups breathing invaluable life into the artistic culture of our cities and towns; others who will be awarded that night include painter <strong>Jason Patterson<\/strong> (\u201cArtist ACE\u201d), philanthropist and event organizer <strong>Eric Robeson<\/strong> (\u201cVolunteer ACE\u201d), the supply store <strong>Art Coop<\/strong> (\u201cBusiness ACE\u201d), educator <strong>Nathaniel Banks<\/strong> (\u201cTeacher ACE\u201d), UIUC masters candidate <strong>Megan Diddie<\/strong> (\u201cStudent ACE\u201d), and blues musician <strong>Gerald \u201cCandy\u201d Foster<\/strong> (\u201cLifetime ACE\u201d).
