By now, you know about the independent feature film LEADING LADIES<\/strong> that has been in production all over Champaign-Urbana<\/strong> for the past four weeks. How would you like to capitalize on one last opportunity to be in<\/em> LEADING LADIES<\/a><\/strong>? Well, my divine little dance machines, the time has come to put your best foot forward in the interest of helping foster film activity in our neck of the woods!<\/p>\n

If you have not participated yet, then your final chance lies this coming Saturday, June 20<\/strong>, starting at 9 a.m.<\/strong> as “Teahm Beahm<\/strong>” takes over Franklin Middle School, 817 N. Harris, Champaign, IL<\/strong>, to film a series of swingin’ scenes with you … if<\/em> you show up prepared according to the guidelines following the jump. Please tell extras casting director Jenna Weglarz-Ward<\/strong> that C-U Blogfidential<\/strong> sent you!<\/p>\n

While all the usual press outlets have\u00a0already tackled\u00a0this filmmaking development, we’ll be reporting in due time with a bit more studied coverage after LADIES<\/strong> enters post-production. I can tell you that my visits to the various locations, primarily the “underground dance club” situated at the former Rialto Theatre<\/strong> in downtown Champaign and the “grocery store dance sequence” orchestrated at Jerry’s IGA<\/strong> in the Round Barn Center<\/strong> of west Champaign, have been pleasant and eye-opening experiences. (Thank you, Luke Boyce<\/strong> and\u00a0David J. Ward<\/strong>, for being my guides.)\u00a0Watching area residents actively create with artisans from Chicago, Colorado<\/strong>, California<\/strong>, and elsewhere to pull off this massive undertaking on a sub-$1 million budget right here, right now<\/em> certainly can cause individuals like your humble editor to mumble “What if …?” relentlessly under his exhilarated breath.<\/p>\n

In other words, this is certainly a dance step in the right direction, dearest C-U. Keep it up with the way you’ve been generously supporting LEADING LADIES<\/strong> and cross your fingers that more exciting local filmmaking is on the way!<\/p>\n

Film Extras for\u00a0LEADING LADIES\u00a0\u201cBallroom Competition\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

What<\/em>: Series of scenes at an amateur, Midwestern ballroom competition<\/p>\n

Who<\/em>: All ages (10 years old and older) and types. We will need at least 100 people for this scene to watch and mingle during the competition. Anyone under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.<\/p>\n

Where<\/em>: Franklin Middle School, 817 N. Harris, Champaign<\/p>\n

When<\/em>: Saturday, June 20, 9 a.m. for as long as you can stay.<\/p>\n

What to Bring<\/em>: 2-3 costume choices within these guidelines:<\/p>\n

One scene takes place in early Fall, One scene takes place in early Spring<\/p>\n

No Black, white, pinks, bright greens, t-shirts, jeans, logos or trademarks, large prints<\/p>\n

Think special occasion or church. Men can wear suits, ties, tuxes, if desired.<\/p>\n

Women should wear normal make-up.<\/p>\n

Please bring something quiet to do while you are waiting throughout the day (reading material, soduku, crosswords). Do not bring ANYTHING that makes ANY noise. Cell phones must be turned off for the duration of filming. We will provide some food and drinks. You may bring your own as well. It will mostly likely be very hot that day, so please make sure to drink lots of water.<\/p>\n
