More news about that seminal number will be shared later this month but, for now, we\u2019d like to point out <em>another<\/em> recurring film project to which you can submit your work even if you are an undergraduate or graduate student. Hit the jump to read a Call for Entries to the next <strong>Central Illinois Feminist Film Festival<\/strong> at <strong>Eastern Illinois University<\/strong> in March; <a title=\"WHAM\u2019s big hit is Feminist Fest :: C-U Blogfidential\" href=\"https:\/\/www.micro-film-magazine.com\/cublog\/?p=7190\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #800000;\">also click this link to revisit<\/span><\/a> the illustrious <strong>Z<\/strong>\u2019s article on the previous CIFFF to get a good idea of what <strong>Professor Robin Murray<\/strong> and her team present over in <strong>Charleston<\/strong> each spring.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">~ Jason Pankoke<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><!--more--><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">~~~~~<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><em>From November 21, 2014:<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>SUBMISSIONS NOW BEING ACCEPTED FOR THE 2015 CENTRAL ILLINOIS FEMINIST FILM FESTIVAL<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>CHARLESTON, IL (November 21, 2014)<\/strong> \u2013 Filmmakers are invited to submit entries for the 2015 <strong>Central Illinois Feminist Film Festival<\/strong> (CIFFF) to be held on the campus of <strong>Eastern Illinois University<\/strong> in <strong>Charleston<\/strong> on <strong>March 23-25, 2015<\/strong>. The theme of this year\u2019s festival is \u201cComing of Age Sexuality.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The CIFFF Committee and the <strong>Women\u2019s Studies Program<\/strong> at EIU are looking for films of high artistic quality that satisfy at least two of the following criteria: films created with an emphasis on gender and\/or social justice issues; films that link local and global issues; films created by people underrepresented in the media \u2013 women, people of color, queer\/transgendered people, people with disabilities \u2013 and films made by people from the central Illinois area.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">While there is an emphasis on local filmmakers, honors have previously been awarded to directors in <strong>Illinois, Virginia, Vermont, Massachusetts, New Mexico, New York, Canada, Iran, Australia, India<\/strong>, and the <strong>Philippines<\/strong>. Subjects have included art therapy and how it can heal victims of gender-based violence, an artist who found her calling when she returned to her childhood home in <strong>Cambodia<\/strong>, and the diverse history of women\u2019s political activism around the world.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">\u201cThe Central Illinois Feminist Film Festival welcomes submissions from students and aspiring filmmakers in both documentary and fictional film categories,\u201d said CIFFF committee chair <strong>Robin Murray<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Submissions should be short films of no more than 30 minutes in length. There is no submission fee for the film festival.<strong> The deadline for submissions is March 1, 2015.<\/strong> The films will be screened on <strong>March 24, 2015<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Filmmakers can submit to the film festival in one of three ways:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">On-line through <strong>FilmFreeway<\/strong> at <a title=\"Central Illinois Feminist Film Festival @ FilmFreeway\" href=\"https:\/\/filmfreeway.com\/festival\/CIFFF\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #800000;\">https:\/\/filmfreeway.com\/festival\/CIFFF<\/span><\/a>;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Upload a video to <strong>Vimeo<\/strong>, <strong>Dropbox<\/strong>, or <strong>YouTube<\/strong> and e-mail Murray at <strong>rlmurray [at] eiu [dot] edu<\/strong> with a link to the film;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Mail a DVD of the film to <strong>Central Illinois Feminist Film Festival, Women\u2019s Studies Program, Eastern Illinois University, 600 Lincoln Ave., Charleston, IL 61920, Attn: Robin Murray<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The DVD should be labeled with a name, address, e-mail address, and title of the film. After sending the film, an acknowledgment should be e-mailed to Murray.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Submissions sent via e-mail or standard mail should also include a cover letter that explains how the filmmaker or film fits the criteria listed above and a two- to three-sentence synopsis. CIFFF takes place each year in March during <strong>Women\u2019s History Awareness Month<\/strong> (WHAM). The WHAM schedule at EIU also includes the <strong>Women\u2019s Studies Annual Awards Ceremony<\/strong>, a keynote presentation by author, activist, professor, and recording artist <strong>Elaine Richardson<\/strong>, a.k.a. \u201cDr. E,\u201d a living history performance, and a concert of women\u2019s music, among other events. This year\u2019s theme for WHAM is \u201cGender and Sexuality.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Now in its eighth year, the film festival promotes the mission of the EIU Women\u2019s Studies Program, which is to promote an understanding of how issues related to gender, age, race, economic status, sexual identity, and nationality affect women\u2019s lives and the communities in which they live. In order to promote an equitable and sensitive environment for all persons, Women\u2019s Studies also responds to issues affecting women on the EIU campus and in the local community.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Additionally, the CIFFF Committee invites local organizations or members of the community to host a film screening and\/or discussion.
