During the traditional proofreading-with-booze session for <strong>C-U Confidential #8<\/strong>, your humble editor and <strong>Freaky Film Festival<\/strong> brother <strong>Brian Robertson<\/strong> got to talking about a local fellow named <strong>Travis Wayne Hurt<\/strong> and his no-budget holiday programs airing on <a title=\"Urbana Public Television :: City of Urbana, Illinois\" href=\"http:\/\/urbanaillinois.us\/uptv\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>Urbana Public Television<\/strong><\/span><\/a> (UPTV). A <em>de facto<\/em> townie variety show created with a big assist from <strong>Lindsey Gates-Markel<\/strong> and <strong>Andrew Schiver<\/strong> of <a title=\"You Big Dumb Idiot :: Home Page\" href=\"http:\/\/youbigdumbidiot.com\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #800000;\">the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>You Big Dumb Idiot<\/strong><\/span> podcast<\/span><\/a>, <strong>THE TRAVIS WAYNE HURT CHRISTMAS SPECIAL AGAIN<\/strong> follows last year\u2019s <a title=\"THE TRAVIS WAYNE HURT CHRISTMAS SPECIAL @ YouTube\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=AH2w05ZLsKg\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>THE TRAVIS WAYNE HURT CHRISTMAS SPECIAL<\/strong><\/span><\/a> (of course!) and consists of five segments. They include: Hurt and <strong>Erin Gillis<\/strong> spoofing the famous spaghetti dinner scene from <strong>LADY AND THE TRAMP<\/strong> (sans meatballs or meet-cute kiss) in a riff on those \u201cdog with human torso\u201d viral videos; a brief sign language interlude with <strong>Melanie Sheckels<\/strong>, a m\u00e9lange of <strong>Christmas<\/strong>-themed quizzing between the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">YBDI<\/span> duo and a dozen or so of their own former guests; an assortment of <em>non sequitur<\/em> skits depicting \u201cHow to Celebrate Christmas;\u201d and an oral sign-off from host Hurt. At times funny, precious, offbeat, and decidedly awkward, the <strong>HURT CHRISTMAS SPECIAL<\/strong> is exactly what cable access television exists for.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">~ Jason Pankoke<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><em>p.s.<\/em> We\u2019d like to ask Hurt, who somewhat resembles a red-bearded <strong>Santa Claus<\/strong> if you squint a little, to consider a three-peat edition for Christmas 2015 filled with more ambitious and edgy ideas to balance out the cute. There is non-network latitude on an outlet such as UPTV, so why not take advantage of it?
