Something tells me that, were I to receive said book highlighting 1970, it would feature no mention whatsoever of <strong>DEMONOID (1970)<\/strong>. Even if filled exclusively with entertainment fun facts, there would <em>still<\/em> be no mention of <strong>DEMONOID (1970)<\/strong>. Horror fans might see random citation on Web sites of the Mexican production <strong>DEMONOID<\/strong> (1981) starring <strong>Samantha Eggar<\/strong> and directed by <strong>Alfredo Zacar\u00edas<\/strong>, but they certainly won\u2019t find mention of the Mexican production <strong>DEMONOID (1970)<\/strong> directed by <strong>Juan Francisco Moctezuma II<\/strong>. Well, at least for now.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Except <a title=\"Juan Moctezuma @ Facebook\" href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/juanmoctezumafansite\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #800000;\">here on <strong>Facebook<\/strong><\/span><\/a>. And on <a title=\"Juan Moctezuma @ Wix.com\" href=\"http:\/\/twin9000.wix.com\/juanmoctezumafansite\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #800000;\">this fan-made Internet tribute<\/span><\/a>. In fact, Moctezuma\u2019s work has been resurrected for screenings at festivals in <a title=\"UNA MUJER SIN PRECIO (1961) :: Chicago International Film Festival 2014\" href=\"http:\/\/www.chicagofilmfestival.com\/festival\/2014-schedule\/film\/?id=176\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>Chicago<\/strong><\/span><\/a> and <a title=\"UNA MUJER SIN PRECIO (1961) :: Stiges International Fantastic Film Festival 2014\" href=\"http:\/\/sitgesfilmfestival.com\/eng\/film\/?id=10003487&amp;tipo=2&amp;id2=10312520&amp;embed=#01\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>Spain<\/strong><\/span><\/a>. (Apologies if we spoil the semi-secret, but it is our editorial policy to not perpetuate <em>faux<\/em> personalities as the real deal.) It seems <strong>DEMONOID (1970)<\/strong> and the entire Moctezuma canon is a glorious myth invented for an upcoming false documentary, <strong>SEARCHING FOR FRANCISCO<\/strong>. Currently splitting time between the Windy City and <strong>Mexico<\/strong>, Rocha has been working with fellow young filmmakers on both sides of the border to piece together Moctezuma\u2019s tale, one of an enigmatic low-budget director in the vein of <strong>Fernando M\u00e9ndez<\/strong> (<strong>THE VAMPIRE<\/strong>) and <strong>Ren\u00e9 Cardona<\/strong> (<strong>DOCTOR OF DOOM<\/strong>) who all but vanished after his prime.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Rocha\u2019s team has already shot vintage-style footage from the supposed Moctezuma filmography on location, starting with the <em>luchador<\/em> melodrama <strong>A PRICELESS WOMAN<\/strong> (<strong>UNA MUJER SIN PRECIO (1961)<\/strong>) and military thriller <strong>THE BEASTS<\/strong> (<strong>LAS FIERAS (1969)<\/strong>). Next up is the fabled <strong>DEMONOID (1970)<\/strong> and they could use <em>your<\/em> help to make that madness happen! Later tonight, <strong>Sunday, January 11<\/strong>, a fundraising effort will take place at <strong>The Elbo Room, 2871 N. He was born in 1936 in a small town called <strong>Xilitla<\/strong>. He found his way to <strong>Mexico City<\/strong> by the age of 16 and worked as a projectionist. While there is evidence he worked on and created many films, his first project of note is <strong>LOVERS OF THE LORD OF NIGHT<\/strong> (1958) which won him an Ariel from the <strong>Academia Mexicana de Ciencias y Artes Cinematogr\u00e1ficas<\/strong>. With his winnings Moctezuma created <strong>A PRICELESS WOMAN<\/strong> (1961). There was a long break before he made his next film in response to the <strong>Tlatelolco Massacre<\/strong> in 1968, <strong>LAS FIERAS<\/strong> (1969), most of which was destroyed by the government. Moctezuma\u2019s next film was <strong>DEMONOID<\/strong> (1970), quickly followed by <strong>DEADLY NIGHTSHADE<\/strong> (1971) which was never completed. Moctezuma is a pivotal director in Mexican Cinema for making bold and personal films during a time of social unrest and government oppression.\u201d ~ <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Masked Men and Mummies: The Encyclopedia of Mexican Pulp Cinema<\/strong><\/span> by <strong>J.D.
