Within all that bustle, you most likely will find something of interest whether as observer or participant, including worthwhile expressions of film culture absent the familiar \u201c<strong>C-U Confidential<\/strong>\u201d branding. So, on behalf of <a title=\"Building NAFF-ticipation no longer :: C-U Blogfidential\" href=\"https:\/\/www.micro-film-magazine.com\/cublog\/?p=8783\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #800000;\">the soon-to-be-rescheduled <strong>New Art Film Festival<\/strong><\/span><\/a>, we highly encourage our fellow cinema mavens to seek out alternative routes for showing their work this spring within the friendly confines of east central <strong>Illinois<\/strong>!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" title=\"Super Mega Awesome Big Fun Art Show! (Art: The Common Mind)\" src=\"http:\/\/www.micro-film-magazine.com\/Images\/CUBlog Art\/cu_superfunartshow_teaser.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"450\" height=\"583\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">To start, we revisit the indie-minded <strong>Buttered Corn on the Cob Film Festival<\/strong> that had been set for the same day as the NAFF last April, only to be <a title=\"Sunday is a film festival funday! :: C-U Blogfidential\" href=\"https:\/\/www.micro-film-magazine.com\/cublog\/?p=7282\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #800000;\">postponed at the 11th hou<\/span>r<\/a>. Considering its Facebook is out-of-date and Web site vanished, we have no indication Buttered Corn will return at all let alone at the venue formerly set as host, the <a title=\"Fluid Event Center :: Home Page\" href=\"http:\/\/fluideventcenter.com\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>Fluid Event Center<\/strong><\/span><\/a> in far west Champaign. Here in 2015, Fluid Events has opted to enlist <a title=\"The Common Mind @ Facebook\" href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/pages\/The-Common-Mind\/232216061657\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #800000;\">art collective <strong>The Common Mind<\/strong><\/span><\/a> for organizing an extravaganza during the comparable weekend, <strong>Friday, April 10<\/strong>, and <strong>Saturday, April 11<\/strong>, called the \u201c<strong>Super Mega Awesome Big Fun Art Show!<\/strong>\u201d All manner of creativity from <strong>Champaign County<\/strong> residents is encouraged in the media, performing, and fine arts; deadline to submit work or proposals is <strong>Sunday, March 22<\/strong>. We point out this gig partly because it is tied to this year\u2019s <strong>Boneyard Arts Festival<\/strong>, and hopefully some filmmakers can take advantage of it to receive exposure for their work! Thanks to an on-line shout from our friend <strong>AJ Christensen<\/strong>, we\u2019re reminded <strong>Rachel Storm<\/strong> and the <strong>Women\u2019s Resources Center<\/strong> (WRC) are accepting entries to the sixth UIUC <a title=\"Feminist Film Festival :: Women's Resources Center, OIIR, UIUC\" href=\"http:\/\/oiir.illinois.edu\/womens-center\/wrc-events\/annual-feminist-film-festival\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>Feminist Film Festival<\/strong><\/span><\/a> that will take place at the end of spring semester. Film Festival<\/strong>\u201d last year<\/span><\/a> and the \u201c<strong>Illini Independent Film Festival<\/strong>\u201d the year before that; for 2015, instructor and fellow <strong>CUBlog<\/strong> friend <strong>Dora Valkanova<\/strong> has been leading her class to develop \u201c<strong>Illinifest<\/strong>.\u201d Call for entries runs now through <strong>Sunday, April 5<\/strong>, targeting film shorts made by students currently enrolled at UIUC and any other Illinois colleges as well as UIUC alumni who have graduated within the past calendar year.
