Our decision to postpone the event, an ongoing survey of indigenous cinema-making in the loose radius centered by <strong>Champaign-Urbana, Illinois<\/strong>, came about because of two main factors: our lag in launching the planning process, and the need of your humble editor-<em>slash<\/em>-programmer-<em>slash<\/em>-fellow human being to simply take a break after six straight spring seasons of putting together film shows primarily on his own. With that now said and already done, we are happy to announce a make-up date of <strong>Sunday, October 4, 2015<\/strong>, for the NAFF at the Art; whether it moves forward as a fall event or reverts back to a Boneyard Arts staple remains to be seen.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">With the NAFF temporarily out of the picture, dearest readers, we invite you to instead attend several alternate events coming up during the next few weeks. <a title=\"Lack of NAFF no reason to slack :: C-U Blogfidential\" href=\"https:\/\/www.micro-film-magazine.com\/cublog\/?p=8853\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #800000;\">We\u2019ve already touched upon<\/span><\/a> the student-run <strong>Illinifest<\/strong> (<strong>Sunday, May 3 @ UIUC Lincoln Hall Theater<\/strong>) and the <strong>UI Feminist Film Festival<\/strong> (<strong>Thursday, May 7 @ Art Co-op<\/strong>) but two additional special events have since come to light. The <strong>May Day Sustainability Shorts Film Festival<\/strong> on <strong>Friday, May 1, 7 p.m.<\/strong>, at <strong>Bevier Hall<\/strong>, has been organized as a function of the <a title=\"Sustainability Living-Learning Community, UIUC @ Facebook\" href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/SustainabilityLLC\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #800000;\">UI <strong>Sustainability Living-Learning Community<\/strong><\/span><\/a> by program coordinator <strong>Jennifer Bechtel<\/strong> (<strong>SCARY NORMAL<\/strong>). As well, the <strong>Dr. Seuss<\/strong>-inspired <strong>WHO STOLE MY HOO-TO FOO-TO BOO-TO BAH?<\/strong> will premiere on <strong>Tuesday, April 21, 7:30 p.m.<\/strong>, at the Art; directed by <strong>Thomas Nicol<\/strong> (<strong>HEARTSHOT<\/strong>) and coordinated by <strong>Brian Hagy<\/strong>, the hour-long fantasia was co-produced by a troupe of disabled individuals who make up <a title=\"Performing arts programs :: Developmental Services Center\" href=\"http:\/\/www.dsc-illinois.org\/programs_services\/dsc_performing_arts.html\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>The Prompting Theater<\/strong><\/span><\/a>, based at <strong>Developmental Services Center<\/strong> in Champaign. If we learn of more eleventh-hour opportunities, they <a title=\"Cinema Calendar page :: C-U Blogfidential\" href=\"https:\/\/www.micro-film-magazine.com\/cublog\/?page_id=499\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #800000;\">will appear on the <strong>Calendar<\/strong><\/span><\/a> post haste!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><!--more--><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">One last option we\u2019ll mention is the <strong>Wisconsin Film Festival<\/strong> in <strong>Madison<\/strong>, presenting a robust selection of domestic and world independent cinema between now and <strong>Thursday, April 16<\/strong>, across a college town comparable to the C-U. Of particular note is their inclusion of our friends <strong>John May<\/strong> and <strong>Nelle Burke<\/strong> as their piece, <strong>THE CROSSING<\/strong>, <a title=\"THE CROSSING :: Wisconsin Film Festival 2015\" href=\"http:\/\/guide.wifilmfest.org\/2015\/Event.aspx?id=3255\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #800000;\">made its debut earlier this afternoon<\/span><\/a> in the \u201c<strong>Worlds of Tomorrow: New Animated Shorts<\/strong>\u201d program. Having enjoyed a rough cut of the film some two years ago during a visit to our fair twin cities by May, a long-time Madison resident who relocated there from Urbana, we can\u2019t wait to see it in finished form! <a title=\"THE CROSSING trailer @ Facebook\" href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/video.php?v=10152697590492633\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #800000;\">This current preview on <strong>Facebook<\/strong><\/span><\/a> demonstrates his handmade stop-motion technique while an earlier teaser, shared below, hints more directly at a human element fueling the sense of post-apocalyptic <em>ennui<\/em> in our robotic protagonist. Regular collaborators <strong>Brian Robertson, Mike Brosco<\/strong>, and <strong>Brian Reedy<\/strong> provided the score.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">An older effort by May, the music video for \u201c<strong>Shot on Sight<\/strong>\u201d by former C-U band <strong>Mad Science Fair<\/strong>, played the previous NAFF. Will <em>your<\/em> fine film make the festival cut this fall?
