10 Years Ago<\/strong> \u2026 Friday, April 22, 2005:<\/em> Chris Folkens<\/strong>, an ambitious University of Illinois<\/strong> senior in LAS-Speech Communication<\/strong> and member of Illini Film & Video<\/strong>, premiered his second narrative featurette TOXIN<\/strong> during two shows at Armory 101<\/strong> inside the Armory Building<\/strong> concurrent with that year\u2019s Roger Ebert\u2019s Film Festival<\/strong>. Rumored to be in attendance was Hollywood<\/strong> producer Roy Lee<\/strong> (THE RING, THE GRUDGE<\/strong>), otherwise visiting campus to speak at the East Asian Languages and Cultures<\/strong> department. Folkens’ action-drama starred then-UI students Aaron Golden<\/strong> (FALLING OVERNIGHT<\/strong>) and Karla Strum<\/strong> (TERRI, LITTLE ACCIDENTS<\/strong>) along with genre film veteran Robert Nolan Clark<\/strong> (RHINELAND<\/strong>).
