The blue sky! The pleasant temps! It sure feels a lot more like <strong>C-U <em>Bloom<\/em>-fidential<\/strong> around here lately, does it not? That\u2019s quite appropriate, dearest readers, since the creators of current movies bearing a distinct Midwest flavor and pinches of that ol\u2019 <strong>Champaign-Urbana<\/strong> spice have been flashing signs of life lately to the world at large. We have early sightings on three such items to share with you, although one you will have to visit off-site as we\u2019ll explain\u2026<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/fqUa5sYHC9s?showinfo=0\" width=\"450\" height=\"253\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Introduced with <span style=\"color: #800000;\"><a style=\"color: #800000;\" title=\"THE END OF THE TOUR :: Official Site\" href=\"http:\/\/endofthetour-movie.com\/#\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a companion Web site<\/a><\/span> by upstart distributor <strong>A24 Films<\/strong> (<strong>EX MACHINA<\/strong>) on <strong>Tuesday, May 26<\/strong>, the first trailer for <strong>THE END OF THE TOUR<\/strong> gives a taste of the conversations and understandings formed between the late novelist <strong>David Foster Wallace<\/strong> (<strong>Jason Segel<\/strong>) and <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Rolling Stone<\/strong><\/span> journalist <strong>David Lipsky<\/strong> (<strong>Jesse Eisenberg<\/strong>), as dramatized by director <strong>James Ponsoldt<\/strong> (<strong>THE SPECTACULAR NOW<\/strong>, also from A24) and <strong>Pulitzer Prize<\/strong>-winning playwright <strong>Donald Margulies<\/strong> (<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Dinner with Friends<\/strong><\/span>). Based on Lipsky\u2019s belated transcriptions of those dialogues with Wallace, published in 2010 as <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Although of Course You End Up Becoming Yourself<\/strong><\/span>, the film is a series of introspective moments between the two in 1996 as Wallace finishes his commitments to promote the release of his lauded work, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Infinite Jest<\/strong><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Although Wallace grew up in Champaign and had been teaching English courses at <strong>Illinois State University<\/strong> in Normal during the time <strong>TOUR<\/strong> is set, the filmmakers chose to shoot on location in <strong>Grand Rapids, Michigan<\/strong>, and <strong>Minneapolis, Minnesota<\/strong>; Ponsoldt and producer <strong>Louise Lovegrove<\/strong> <span style=\"color: #800000;\"><a style=\"color: #800000;\" title=\"Professors recall David Foster Wallace\u2019s Illinois State days :: STATEside Weblog\/Illinois State University\" href=\"https:\/\/stories.illinoisstate.edu\/magazine\/illinois-state\/state-side\/professors-recall-david-foster-wallaces-isu-days\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">did visit <strong>Bloomington-Normal<\/strong> in advance<\/a><\/span> to research the writer\u2019s local history as well as the central Illinois winter Lipsky flew into for the chance to meet the reclusive literary star. Of course, the musing voiced by both men is shaded in viewers&#8217; minds by <span style=\"color: #800000;\"><a style=\"color: #800000;\" title=\"David Foster Wallace, Influential Writer, Dies at 46 :: The New York Times\" href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2008\/09\/15\/books\/15wallace.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the suicide of Wallace in 2008 at age 46<\/a><\/span>, an eventuality all but avoided by Ponsoldt and Margulies to preserve focus. A24 will release <strong>THE END OF THE TOUR<\/strong> to theaters nationwide on <strong>Friday, July 31<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/7a-Flujizz4?showinfo=0\" width=\"450\" height=\"253\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Elsewhere, <strong>Daryl Wein<\/strong> and <strong>Zoe Lister-Jones<\/strong> of <strong>Mister Lister Films<\/strong> released a clip of <span style=\"color: #800000;\"><a style=\"color: #800000;\" title=\"CONSUMED :: Official Site\" href=\"http:\/\/www.consumedthemovie.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">their upcoming thriller <strong>CONSUMED<\/strong><\/a><\/span> exclusively <span style=\"color: #800000;\"><a style=\"color: #800000;\" title=\"Indie Thriller 'Consumed' Puts Focus on GMO Controversy (Exclusive Video) :: The Hollywood Reporter\" href=\"http:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/news\/clip-new-thriller-consumed-801288\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">through <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>The Hollywood Reporter<\/strong><\/span><\/a><\/span> on <strong>Tuesday, June 9<\/strong>, to promote its world premiere at the <strong>Los Angeles Film Festival<\/strong> the following <strong>Monday, June 15<\/strong>. Shot in <strong>Chicago<\/strong>, <span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #800000;\" title=\"THE ORIGINS OF WIT &amp; HUMOR :: Official Site\" href=\"http:\/\/owhfilm.dimestorefilms.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">THE ORIGINS OF WIT &amp; HUMOR<\/a><\/strong><\/span> spins the yarn of poor Les (<strong>Joe Hursley<\/strong>), a comedy writer who believes a magic potion will make him \u201cirresistibly funny\u201d and attractive to the ladies after suffering a bad break-up.
