4 :: CHAZ EBERT APPEARANCE, EBERTFEST PASS SALES
\nCOINCIDE ON CAMPUS<\/strong><\/p>\n

Ardent fans of Roger Ebert\u2019s Film Festival<\/a><\/strong><\/span> probably had Monday, November 2<\/strong>, circled on their calendars for some time, as festival passes to the 2015 show were slated to go on sale that day through the Virginia Theatre<\/strong> box office. Presuming they have not sold out by the time you read this, head to the Virginia Web site and reserve your own passes today<\/a><\/span> if having discounted access to all films during the 18th annual \u201cEbertfest<\/strong>\u201d is important to you. Of more immediate interest to the University of Illinois<\/strong> student body was a campus appearance by Chaz Ebert<\/strong> two weekends ago on Sunday, November 1<\/strong>. According to the Daily Illini<\/strong><\/span><\/a><\/span>, Ebert discussed her relationship with the late Roger Ebert<\/strong> in accordance with stories told in his autobiography Life Itself<\/strong><\/span>, a \u201csummer reading\u201d choice for high-achievement UI undergraduates belonging to the Campus Honors Program<\/strong>, during an address made at the Illini Union<\/strong>. Ebert also talked about the Chicago<\/strong> stage production about their lives, The Black White Love Play<\/strong><\/span> directed by Jackie Taylor<\/strong> for the Black Ensemble Theater<\/strong>, and the upcoming Roger Ebert Center<\/strong> in the College of Media<\/strong> among other topics. 3 :: ART CO-OP OFFERS MEMBERSHIPS,
\nHOLDS UP TO SUNDANCE STANDARDS<\/strong><\/p>\n

We can\u2019t thank enough our fine film friends at the Art Theater Co-op<\/strong> for providing another rock-solid foundation for our local cinema-maker showcase, the New Art Film Festival<\/strong><\/a><\/span>, back on Sunday, October 4<\/strong>. Nary a hitch was to be had! Now, we encourage all of you who enjoy the NAFF in its current home to step up your support for Champaign-Urbana<\/strong>\u2019s one true \u201cart house\u201d by investigating their \u201cAnnual Membership\u201d program launched in August. This is a different manner of fundraising from the original \u201cpurchase shares in the cooperative\u201d initiative that originally funded their move to a more democratic business model; memberships help offset recurring operational costs as well as fund special programs, speakers, and performers that only the Art will bring to town. In return, members receive discounts and other privileges that shareholders and other customers do not. Visit this dedicated page at the Art Web site<\/a><\/span> for further details that will better explain membership goals and perks than we can in 200 words or less! Besides, would you<\/em> not want to further enhance the mission of the Art, one of only 23 theaters nationwide selected in July as a member<\/a><\/span> of the upstart Sundance Institute Art House Project<\/strong>? 2 :: LISTEN TO DAMIAN DUFFY NOT TALK ABOUT “DEAD”
\nON “HATES EVERYTHING”<\/strong><\/p>\n

Recorded with absolute imperfection at the Secret MICRO-FILM Headquarters<\/strong> in Champaign, the \u201cirreverent pop culture podcast\u201d Damian Duffy Hates Everything<\/strong><\/span> has been dissecting entertainment topics in a sarcastic half-hour flurry since November 2012. DDHE<\/span> stars comics historian and artist Damian Duffy<\/strong>, graphic design professor and environmental reuse activist Eric Benson<\/strong>, and your humble editor as they hash over media interests. In Episode 27<\/strong> released on Halloween<\/strong><\/a><\/span>, for instance, Duffy reveals why he avoids THE WALKING DEAD<\/strong> talk and dismisses the recent hashtag controversy related to STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS<\/strong>. Roundtable discussions with fine arts instructor Tammie Rubin<\/strong>, analyzing modern television (DDHE<\/span> #26<\/a><\/span>) and the early BATMAN V SUPERMAN<\/strong> trailer (DDHE<\/span> #25<\/a><\/span>), filled out preceding entries, while all episodes to date have been augmented with segments such as \u201cTalking about Other Shit\u201d rants, \u201cTwo Minutes of Love\u201d catharses, and commercials of very<\/em> dubious origin. Watch for future show announcements and extraneous nonsense to litter their Facebook<\/strong> page<\/a><\/span> as you stream a little Hate<\/span> from either iTunes<\/strong> or Google Play<\/strong> apps or via non-Firefox<\/strong> browsers. It will vibrate your ear holes!<\/p>\n
