Producer and writer <strong>Robin Christian<\/strong> introduces the <strong>7 p.m.<\/strong> screening to a near-capacity crowd north of 1,300. After appearing first in international markets and undergoing a title change, <strong>CRAB ORCHARD<\/strong> would come to U.S. DVD in early 2011 as <strong>SHEEBA<\/strong> (<strong>Questar Home Video<\/strong>). The cast of this family drama includes <strong>Ruby Handler, Dylan Patton, Betsy Zajko, Judge Reinhold<\/strong>, and <strong>Edward Asner<\/strong>. Media entrepreneur and photojournalist <strong>Michael J. Jacobs<\/strong> directed the film for Dreamscape. <em>As reported on 3\/12\/06, 3\/19\/06, 1\/27\/11 at <\/em><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">CUBlog<\/span><\/strong><em>.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\" align=\"center\"><em><br \/>\n<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>FLICKER OF THE WEEK<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Connoisseurs of the American art house \u201cgolden era\u201d in the late Fifties and early Sixties can relive that pivotal period at the <strong>Normal Theater<\/strong> in <strong>Normal<\/strong> this weekend with a revival of <strong>Fran\u00e7ois Truffaut<\/strong>\u2019s <strong>THE 400 BLOWS<\/strong> (1959) and a new documentary by <strong>Kent Jones<\/strong>, <strong>HITCHCOCK\/TRUFFAUT<\/strong> (<strong>Cohen Media Group<\/strong>), which examines the legacy of Sir <strong>Alfred Hitchcock<\/strong> through interviews with modern directors and the fabled audio recording made in 1962 of a wide-ranging conversation between Hitch and the French critic-turned-filmmaker Truffaut. On the opposite end of the aisle, consumers of multiplex pop culture have apparently received another gift from producer <strong>J.J. Abrams<\/strong> in <strong>10 CLOVERFIELD LANE<\/strong> (<strong>Paramount Pictures<\/strong>), a spiritual successor to the monster mash <strong>CLOVERFIELD<\/strong> (2008) opening wide today. Directed by <strong>Dan Trachtenberg<\/strong> and starring <strong>Mary Elizabeth Winstead, John Gallagher, Jr.<\/strong>, and the great <strong>John Goodman<\/strong>, this thriller brings their characters together in an underground bunker after a largely unexplained calamity. Shrewdly cagey trailers all but show that Michelle (Winstead) is fated to escape the confines built by the unpredictable Howard (Goodman) and face whatever additional horrors reside on the surface.
