FIELD REPORT DU HQ | From Wherever It May Be Said
Once again, the listing under “Local Films & Events” below is stocked and, once again, we’re allowing hot links to other sources to do the talking about what’s going down in downstate Illinois film culture. We will summarize that it involves the premiere of the Fifties sci-fi homage IT CAME FROM SOMEWHERE from Chicagoland’s Acrostar Films at the Princess Theatre in LeRoy on Saturday, November 12, another premiere at the Hoogland Center for the Arts in Springfield on Monday, November 14, for the documentary POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS, produced by Il Ponte Film Group of Chicago and executive produced by THE BIG LEBOWSKI actor John Turturro, about the detainment of Italian-Americans in our country during World War II, and the in-person awards ceremony and screenings of the 21st annual Route 66 Film Festival of Springfield, also at the Hoogland this Saturday beginning at 11 a.m., that will include a raft of guest presenters including capital city politicians, media personalities, filmmakers, actors, and, of all people, Chris Kattan from SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE. Facebook perusing tells us that reenactment scenes for DANGEROUS and much of SOMEWHERE were filmed in Springfield and Farmer City/Dewey, respectively. Do your best to support the movie creators in our midst by attending and watching!
