MFHQ & YOU:
Avoiding the “Uh-Oh” in the Ooh-La-La

We need to keep it honest, dearest readers, as it’s time for your humble editor to compose the newest issue of our fellow C-U publication, Bachelor Pad Magazine! Therefore, the Biz will be on the lighter side for the week so we can bulk up on BPM work. We’ll resume pulling our weight ‘round here next time!

ITEM OF THE WEEK

A last-minute Melissa Merli article run by the News-Gazette confirms the team behind independent horror film FARM will block off a road in nearby Seymour this weekend to film a car pile-up scene. Location manager Michael Kilcullen is quoted about this project, ROAD, which co-director Andrew Gleason confirmed on the Champaign Movie Makers message board is a short-film version of the sequel to FARM, intended to attract investors who might fund the feature length edition. It is unclear whether any further scenes will be filmed downstate for ROAD, which will resume production in the spring according to the article, while FARM itself has been attracting attention since its October DVD release such as with this positive review posted by Mark L. Miller of Ain’t It Cool News.

LINK OF THE WEEK

In what will probably become par for the discourse regarding independent theaters during the next few years, the owners of the Onarga Theater in nearby Onarga are asking loyal customers to help “save the theater” with their patronage, advertising, and other purchases. The culprits, according to the owners, are operating debt and an impending upgrade to all-digital projection as forced by the studios.
