NAFF 2012 to kick ass April 20

Given the wonderful attendance and response which greeted the second New Art Film Festival a year ago at the Art Theater in downtown Champaign, we ecstatically announce the third annual NAFF will take place on Friday, April 20, 2012, as an attraction of the 10th annual Boneyard Arts Festival presented by the 40 North 88 West arts council of Champaign County. Just like last time, we’ll begin at 5 p.m. and wrap by the stroke of midnight, showcasing the best independent film features, shorts, and documentaries created by our friends and neighbors! Admission will be free.

But before we place too many carts before horses, we call for your submissions, filmmakers! Please send a standard definition, non-returnable DVD screener between now and Wednesday, March 21, 5 p.m. CST, to: New Art Film Festival, c/o The Art Theater, 126 W. Church St., Champaign, IL 61820. We will consider independent film work mostly or completely produced in Illinois and our neighboring states including Missouri, Iowa, Wisconsin, Michigan, Indiana, and Minnesota. If you live in Champaign-Urbana or the immediate area, feel free to drop off your screener at the Art during business hours in a clearly marked package. There is NO entry fee this year, but please be sure to include complete contact information with your DVD. Queries may be directed to either Art manager Sanford Hess at the [dot] art [dot] theater [at] gmail [dot] com or your humble CUBlog editor at cuconfidential [at] gmail [dot] com.

Good luck, everybody! We hope to announce our complete line-up publicly by Friday, April 6, two weeks before show time. At that point, we’ll also solicit press information and high-resolution data files from filmmakers whose works are selected. Please pass this information on, and we’ll plan to see you and/or your Midwestern cinematic genius at the NAFF 2012!
