“Home Movie Day” returns

For the second year running, WILL-TV channel 12 will be the local host for “Home Movie Day,” a worldwide event that encourages citizens to show their amateur movies to a public audience. This year’s event will take place tomorrow, Saturday, August 11, 1-5 p.m., at Campbell Hall for Public Telecommunication, 300 N. Goodwin, Urbana, IL, on the University of Illinois campus. Experts will be on hand to clean and project the films as well as offer advice for preserving ephemeral film and video. Admission is free to the public.

The local “Home Movie Day” is sponsored by WILL AM-FM-TV in partnership with the University of Illinois Library. The international “Home Movie Day” movement is coordinated by the non-profit Center for Home Movies of Los Angeles, CA.

If you have questions regarding the showing of films, please contact Jack Brighton at (217) 333-0850 or jackb@uiuc.edu.
