Press Start Movie Animated Prologues Premiere Online

CHAMPAIGN, IL (April 28, 2006) – While the movie may take some time to complete, all those eagerly anticipating the upcoming videogame adventure comedy PRESS START now have something to hold them over. Dark Maze Studios has premiered a monthly series of short Flash cartoons called PRESS START: BONUS LEVELS on the film’s Web site,

Created and animated by PRESS START writer Kevin Folliard and produced by PRESS START director/producer Ed Glaser, BONUS LEVELS goes where the movie can’t, introducing audiences to the world of the film even before the movie is completed.

BONUS LEVELS allows us to tell some of the back-story, anecdotes, and jokes that we just couldn’t explore within the time and money constraints of our low-budget movie,” explains Glaser. “We’ve created a whole goofy universe for the PRESS START characters, and this gives us the chance to have more fun with it.”

Episodes will premiere on the last Friday of every month. Each will be only a few minutes long and will feature the voice talents of the PRESS START cast, as well as others, plus music by professional videogame composer Jake “virt” Kaufman. And while Glaser isn’t mentioning any names just yet, he expects videogame fans to find some enjoyable surprises among the guest voices.

The premiere episode finds irate ninja Lin-Ku at a bar, fuming over an unexpected turn of events at a recent fighting tournament.

PRESS START tells the story of a suburban youth in a videogame world who discovers his adventurous, if berserk, destiny when he’s recruited by an ill-tempered ninja and a tough-as-nails space soldier to save the world from a tyrannical, but comically insecure, sorcerer.
