Friday, September 21 through Sunday, September 23: If you can’t wait for the Beatles-inspired ACROSS THE UNIVERSE to reach a theater near you, why not go for the real deal? Skip Huston will roll out one of the greatest rock movies ever, A HARD DAY’S NIGHT (1964), for three nights only: 9/21, 8 p.m., 9/22, 8 p.m., and 9/23, 5 p.m. Go see John, Paul, George, and Ringo larger than life in silvery black-and-white; it’ll make you feel all right. @ Avon Theatre, 426 N. Water St., Decatur. Click for more

Sunday, September 23, 5:30 p.m. & 7 p.m.: So mysterious that its only Web mention (until now) is the cryptic CUCalendar.com entry linked here, the Moving Images festival presents “submissions from the undergraduate, graduate students, and alumni” of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. News to me. Now, it’s news to you, too. @ Armory 101, Armory Building, UIUC, 505 E. Armory Ave., Champaign. Free. Click for more

Tuesday, September 25: Local micro-budget posse Dark Maze Studios will finally release the DVD of its videogame-inspired action-fantasy PRESS START (2007) on this date, featuring three commentaries, three “Bonus Level” cartoons, and other extras. Score! Watch C-U Blogfidential for additional news about the PRESS START premiere @ Virginia Theatre and an exclusive interview with director/producer Ed Glaser. Click for more
