The scenes from a film culture that we have been watching mostly from afar fill us with mild disenchantment instead of wonder. And then we were ordered to self-shelter and keep personal spaces to ourselves. Joy.

The Workshop Films Collective, a newer group devoted to developing technical skills and honing storytelling concepts, is led by John Isberg and gathers weekly at Shatterglass Studios in Champaign, IL.

Students at the University of Illinois have more options to breathe in and produce the cinema then they know. We update today on the UI Golden Corn Student Film Festival and the Illinois Film Office’s Shortcuts contest.

Currently-enrolled students at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign know what’s going down on campus more than we do, but we can always toss up a little friendly advice on their behalf.

Unlike the old days, student film projects can easily be found thanks to on-line posting. We share two such pieces made by students from the University of Illinois and Eastern Illinois University.

The next meeting of Illini Film & Video will be on Tuesday, November 1, 2016, at 6 p.m. on the University of Illinois campus in Urbana.

Champaign Movie Makers, a group dedicated to fostering independent and personal filmmaking in the Champaign-Urbana area, will next meet at the WILL-TV studios in Urbana, IL, on Tuesday, September 15, 2015. Focus will be on evaluating CMM itself.

The next meetings of Illini Film & Video will be on Wednesday, September 9, 2015, and Thursday, September 10, 2015, both at 7:30 p.m. on the University of Illinois campus in Urbana.

Champaign Movie Makers, a group dedicated to fostering independent and personal filmmaking in the Champaign-Urbana area, will next meet at Shatterglass Studios near downtown Champaign, IL, on Tuesday, May 20, 2014. Focus will be on useful pre-production skills and Pens to Lens film projects.

The next meeting of Illini Film & Video will be on Thursday, January 23, 2014, 8 p.m., in Room 111 of Gregory Hall on the UIUC Main Quad.

WILL Channel 12, the PBS affiliate based at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, is reviving a previous collaborative project with the production of the special program WE ARE MONTICELLO. If you are a resident of Monticello, you can be involved!
