Art to let right size NAFF in

“C’mon, it’ll be fun!” – Casey (Paul Karpenko) in THE UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS VS. A MUMMY

~~~~~
After cordial deliberations over libations, your humble editor and our friend Sanford Hess of the Art Theater have decided the New Art Film Festival will return! Once again, it will run alongside the annual Boneyard Arts Festival county-wide showcase coordinated by the 40 North 88 West arts council, pushed up to April 7-10 this year due to Easter Sunday falling late in the month. NAFF will be consolidated into a one-day “NAFF Lite,” akin to our maiden voyage two years ago at Caffe Paradiso in Urbana, and run through the late afternoon and evening of Friday, April 8, when all key Boneyard events will take place in and near downtown Champaign. We still intend to highlight as many locally-made films and videos as possible in that time frame; unlike the Paradiso show, we will attempt to work long-form pieces (e.g., features) into the program. Admission will be free.
Therefore, folks, we need to see your movies! To formally submit work for possible inclusion in the NAFF, please send a standard definition, non-returnable DVD screener and an entry fee of $15 per short/$25 per feature by March 11, 2011, to: New Art Film Festival, c/o The Art Theater, 126 W. Church St., Champaign, IL, 61820. (“Short” is defined as running 20 minutes or less.) We will also consider independent film work mostly or completely produced in Illinois or our neighboring states including Missouri, Iowa, Wisconsin, Michigan, Indiana, and Minnesota. Feel free to send queries to either Hess at the [dot] art [dot] theater [at] gmail [dot] com or the Secret MICRO-FILM Headquarters at cuconfidential [at] gmail [dot] com. And finally, we will do our best to not belabor the points found in this previous C-U Blogfidential post as we move forward with a positive, refreshed state of mind concerning the NAFF, but … as much as we need to see your movies, we also need to see your bodies in those theater seats. Please plan to join us on April 8 for the NAFF 2011!
