From the “Images of the Week” Dept.: After seeing the Martin Scorsese film HUGO and its loving depiction of the first visionary filmmaker, Georges Melies, your humble editor recalls a quiet moment spent with Papa George on January 13, 1992.

From the “Images of the Week” Dept.: Ed Glaser and Dark Maze Studios are at it again! Today we find them throwing public domain movie stars into the mix of their Hong Kong inspired Web series NINJA THE MISSION FORCE and seeing where they stick!

So, the News-Gazette beat us to the punch and featured local filmmakers Anne and Chris Lukeman on the cover of their Central Illinois Business magazine. We’ll let it slide. This time. Bwa to the ha ha!

From the “Images of the Week” Dept.: Putting the “do” in “do it yourself” with interesting results, Chris Eitel of the C-U band Elsinore depicts domestic strife using stop motion in his music video for the group’s song, “Life Inside an Elephant.”

From the “Images of the Week” Dept.: A slight detour is taken as we present rare video of a stage production written and directed by Champaign filmmaker Mike Trippiedi for the Celebration Company at the Station Theatre in Urbana in 1996, “Caged Vixens.”

From the “Images of the Week” Dept.: Stop, drop, and watch the new music video for “Lovesick” by Morgan Orion, produced by Sam Ambler and Matt HarsH, the latter whom we discuss further because he concocts cool musician/projection hybrids in clubs. Of course, we have a clip!

From the “Images of the Week” Dept.: Santa Claus-derived madness erupts from MFHQ, stemming from the discovery of an American one-sheet for the Mexican fantasy SANTA CLAUS in a Champaign, Illinois used book store that no longer exists.

From the “Images of the Week” Dept.: We have yet another Dreamscape Cinema cover design to debut! For round three of the company’s 2012 outpouring, Vanguard Cinema releases key artwork that will adorn the national DVD release of ACT YOUR AGE on December 20.

From the “Images of the Week” Dept.: Dark Maze Studios of Champaign lives by the sword of the ninja in one current series, SPACE NINJA, and one upcoming, NINJA THE MISSION FORCE, while exploring remakesploitation of Peckinpah in a new DEJA VIEW. Whew!
